Job DescriptionLegrand has an exciting opportunity for a Manufacturing Engineer to join the Lighting Division Focal Point IE Team in Chicago, IL . The successful candidate will be responsible for every aspect of process engineering, production standard costs, tooling/equipment procurement, improving operating performance, identifying and reducing waste, and troubleshooting. This person will coordinate many continuous improvement activities for the business, including the development and implementation of lean manufacturing concepts to systematically identify and eliminate waste. It will also provide a developmental opportunity to learn more about the systems and processes at Focal Point along with increasing overall business acumen. This position reports to the Director of Operations.ResponsibilitiesDevelop, optimize, and maintain equipment programs, operating parameters, process settings, tooling, jigs, fixtures, routing standards and work instructionsCollaborate with the manufacturing team to maximize Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) through process improvements, equipment optimization, scrap reduction, and reduction of downtimeProvide technical support and troubleshooting for fabrication and paint production equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operationSupport operators in troubleshooting process issues and developing best practices for machine operationMonitor process performance and analyze production data to identify opportunities for improvement.Partner with Maintenance and Production teams to develop and implement world‑class maintenance practices, developing and standardizing preventative and predictive maintenance proceduresUtilize Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) tools and methodologies to improve equipment reliability and performanceParticipate in root cause investigations and corrective action activities for equipment and process failuresAnalyze and optimize facility layouts, workflow, and material flow to eliminate waste and improve productivityParticipate in Kaizen events focused on improving safety, quality, delivery, productivity, and cost by applying lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies to streamline operationsCollaborate with New Product Development and Requisition Engineering teams to provide Design for Manufacturing (DFM) guidancePlan, justify, execute, and monitor Capital projects related to manufacturing equipment and tooling implementation and sun‑settingSupport new product introductions by ensuring manufacturing readiness and process capabilityEvaluate current manufacturing capacity utilization and future volume requirements, proactively escalating any risks and developing recommendations to alleviate bottlenecksEstablish and maintain a cooperative relationship with all support functionsQualifications3 to 7 years of professional engineering work experience as Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineer within the manufacturing industry. Metal fabrication preferredKnowledge of machine/CNC programming, fixture and JIG design, and proper tooling selectionProficiency with SolidWorks or similar modeling software, AutoCAD, Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OutlookBachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited programDemonstrated knowledge of Lean manufacturing tools and technologiesKnowledge of quality control programs such as SPC, ISO, or Six Sigma is preferredKnowledge of preventative maintenance, tooling, and gauging designsGD&T knowledge and its applicationKnowledge of process and design failure mode and defect analysis (PFMEA and DFMEA)CompetenciesProven track record of leading through influence, building strong team relations with peers and working collaboratively across all levels and departmentsAbility to develop methods to optimally simplify complex processes and systemsCustomer‑focused with a high sense of urgencyDemonstrated tenacity for identifying opportunities for improvements and developing solutionsStrong communication and organizational skillsAbility to adapt to new situations and quickly learn new processes and technologiesDetail‑oriented, with a desire to roll up your sleeves to help the team get the job doneStrong project management; able to set priorities and meet deadlinesSalary RangeSalary Range: $85,000 - $115,000 starting base plus bonusBenefitsSummary of Benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, PTO, Disability, Parental Leave, 401K w/ company matchEqual Opportunity Employer#J-18808-Ljbffr
