JOB SUMMARY:

The Manufacturing Engineer plans/executes programs within the manufacturing plant to ensure all customer and company targets are achieved.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Establishes control charting of critical features and processes; monitors results and determines machine and process capabilities and performance reliability
  • Manages the implementation of new processes, work with corporate engineering on equipment to be purchased, and time estimates. Identifies optimal tooling for machining
  • Resolves issues with design, manufacturability, or build sequences. Ensures production part acceptance and manufacturing readiness
  • Participates in adoption of new technologies and processes to achieve greater efficiency. Consults with corporate engineering on implementation of automation and robotics on the assembly line
  • Maintains current production system at optimal operating levels and drives action using A3 thinking and lean method(s)
  • Creates and Implements work instruction for operations and trains to document
  • Provides technical reports on corrective actions and implementations for systemic issues / top 3. Publish reports via lessons learned, power point, CIT format ect.
  • Ensures efficient and timely transfer of process knowledge and coordinate the training of production team members and maintenance technicians on new or change management processes and equipment
  • Supports operation technician and maintenance personnel with assistance and guidance to maintain production process, continuous improvement implementation, troubleshooting techniques (A3 thinking)
  • Leads reverse PFMEA audits with cross‑functional teams, validating actual shop‑floor conditions and updating all core documents (PFMEA, Control Plan, Process Flow)
  • Participates in APQP process for new product launch as assigned

EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:

  • University degree in engineering or equivalent
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, exhibiting a strong sense of urgency
  • Demonstrated experience creating effective change and designing and delivering training programs
  • Well versed in Lean Manufacturing (TPS)
  • Green belt or black belt certification with Lean/Six Sigma is an asset
  • A minimum of 3 years' experience in Lean Manufacturing duties
  • Understanding of IATF 16949 standards and automotive core tools (APQP, PFMEA, Control Plan)
  • Experience applying the principals underlying TQM, Six Sigma or Lean
