Central Virginia Community College (CVCC) seeks a detail-oriented and service-focused professional to serve as a Part-Time Administrative and Office Specialist supporting Manufacturing and Skilled Trades programs. This position plays a vital role in ensuring the effective coordination and administrative operation of instructional programs that support workforce and technical education.
The Administrative and Office Specialist provides comprehensive administrative support for manufacturing and skilled trades programs, working closely with program directors, faculty, and staff to ensure instructional and operational needs are met. Responsibilities include coordinating classes, managing procurement activities, supporting credentialing and testing processes, and serving as a point of contact for instructors and students.
Key responsibilities include coordinating course logistics and room reservations; communicating with instructors regarding scheduling, materials, and instructional needs; providing technology and student support; and assisting with program-related data and documentation. This position is also responsible for overseeing NIMS and NOCTI testing for machine tool and other applicable programs, as well as handling procurement activities for manufacturing and skilled trades programs in accordance with college and state policies.
This is a part-time, hourly wage position without state benefits. Wage employees are limited to working no more than 29 hours per week and no more than 1,450 hours annually.
Special Assignments
May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
KSA's/Required Qualifications
Minimum qualifications include considerable knowledge of administrative and office support functions; strong organizational and multitasking skills; proficiency with technology platforms and database systems; excellent customer service skills; and the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse population in a fast-paced environment.
Additional Considerations
Preferred qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, or an associate degree; experience with the eVA procurement system; familiarity with WES and SIS enrollment systems; experience supporting NCCER, NOCTI, NIMS, or NC3 certifications; experience working in an industrial setting; and working knowledge of equipment and supplies used in machining, advanced manufacturing, welding, HVAC, and electrical programs.
