Managing Partner - Business Development

Natural Resources | Metals & Mining

United States & Canada

About the Firm

Our Client is a globally recognized consulting firm specializing in the execution of strategy. With over six decades of experience, they serve the world's most respected organizations, Fortune 500 companies and private equity portfolio firms, by delivering accelerated financial results and sustainable operational improvements.

Unlike traditional strategy firms, they are known for their ability to embed directly within client operations, aligning leadership, teams, and performance systems to bring strategic imperatives to life and generate measurable returns. Their reputation is built on an unmatched ability to deliver on promises, and their engagements routinely yield 5x–10x ROI for clients.

They do not merely advise, they execute. They partner directly with CEOs and their leadership teams to build alignment, eliminate organizational resistance, and drive outcomes that truly matter: increased EBITDA, improved cash flow, elevated productivity, and long-term organizational health.

The Opportunity

We are seeking an exceptional executive to serve as Managing Partner - Business Development (MPBD), focused exclusively on the Natural Resources sector, with particular emphasis on Metals & Mining, across the United States and Canada. This is a high-impact, senior-level role designed for a commercially accomplished executive who has spent their career earning the trust of C-suite leaders in this industry.

This is not a traditional sales role. The MPBD is a trusted advisor and executive relationship builder, capable of quickly establishing credibility with CEOs and senior operators in capital-intensive, cyclical, and technically complex businesses. Whether your background is in consulting services, operational leadership within the sector, or high-stakes B2B sales into mining and metals companies, what matters most is your ability to engage at the CEO level with authenticity, industry fluency, and a track record of driving decisions.

You will work at the intersection of strategy, execution, and influence, engaging in sophisticated, high-trust conversations that ultimately lead to enterprise-wide transformation engagements. You will personally originate, structure, and shepherd opportunities from first conversation through signed agreement, collaborating closely with our internal delivery teams to ensure a seamless transition into execution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify and engage CEO and C-suite executives across Global 2000 and leading private equity-backed Metals & Mining and Natural Resources companies throughout the US and Canada.
  • Establish trust-based relationships grounded in shared industry knowledge, situational fluency, and a deep understanding of the strategic and operational challenges facing mining, metals processing, and resource extraction businesses.
  • Uncover high-impact business needs, including cost reduction, operational efficiency, workforce productivity, organizational alignment, and leadership effectiveness, and articulate how our methodology can accelerate measurable results.
  • Drive the full business development lifecycle, from opportunity origination through signed Stage 1 Assessment agreements.
  • Collaborate closely with internal Managing Partners - Delivery to ensure seamless handoff and alignment between client expectations and execution outcomes.
  • Serve as a long-term strategic advisor to clients, cultivating multi-year relationships, follow-on business, and referrals throughout the sector.
  • Contribute to the ongoing refinement of our market development strategy within Natural Resources and adjacent verticals across North America.

Ideal Candidate Profile

We are open to exceptional candidates from several backgrounds; what they share is a proven ability to engage and influence CEOs in the Metals & Mining or broader Natural Resources space:

  • Consulting Services Background (Primary): 10–20+ years in senior business development or commercial leadership with a strategy, operations, or management consulting firm, with a demonstrated track record of selling engagements to C-suite executives in the Natural Resources or Metals & Mining sector.Industry Executive Background: Former mining or metals industry executives (VP, SVP, or C-level) who have successfully transitioned into a senior business development or advisory capacity, selling high-value services back into the sector.
  • Adjacent Service Industries: Senior BD executives from engineering, EPC, technical consulting, or other professional services firms with consistent success selling to CEOs and senior leaders in mining, metals, or resource extraction.

Across all backgrounds, the ideal candidate will demonstrate:

  • A strong, verifiable track record of winning new business relationships, not just managing existing accounts, with CEO-level buyers in capital-intensive industries.
  • Deep fluency in the business dynamics of Metals & Mining: commodity cycles, capital project pressures, ESG imperatives, workforce challenges, and the constant drive for operational efficiency in margin-constrained environments.
  • The ability to speak credibly about P&L performance, organizational transformation, and the levers that drive EBITDA improvement in resource-intensive operations.
  • Exceptional executive presence, situational awareness, and the ability to build trust rapidly and lead through influence rather than authority.
  • Self-motivated and disciplined, comfortable managing long sales cycles, complex stakeholder environments, and operating independently at executive altitude.
  • Willingness to travel across the US and Canada as required to develop and maintain client relationships.

Compensation Structure:
$250K draw against commission, designed for senior business developers with a proven track record of originating and closing high-value engagements

Total Compensation:
$1M–$2M+ achievable based on performance and deal flow, with uncapped earning potential

Benefits & Additional Highlights:

  • Competitive executive-level benefits package (health, retirement, etc.)
  • Executive-level autonomy and strategic influence
  • Direct access to global leadership and partnership track opportunities
  • Dynamic, mission-driven culture with a global team of high performers
