Position: Manager Transplant & Cell Therapy

Location: Cancer Hematology Clinic, Winston-Salem NC

Employment Type: Full Time, 40 hours per week, 8am-5pm

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Provide oversight of program operations, quality assurance, and process improvement activities for Hematopoietic Cell Transplant (HCT) and Cellular Therapy Department.
  • Collaborate with the TCT Leadership Team with the position’s counterparts across the Novant Health system.

 

  • This leadership position collaborates with supportive multidisciplinary teams and all aspects of TCT service lines including: apheresis, cell processing lab, providers, pharmacy, nursing, and inpatient/outpatient clinical units.

 

  • The TCT Manager leads program initiatives to achieve TCT Program and organizational objectives by coaching and mentoring team members to be more effective and to understand program methodology and workflows.

 

  • The TCT Manager is directly responsible for the TCT Coordinator and Cellular Therapy and Apheresis Teams. This position is accountable to the TCT Team and its Quality Management Program.

 

  • The TCT Manager liaises with the TCT Program Quality Accreditation Manager to align program practices with the standards of the Foundation for the Accreditation of Cellular Therapy (FACT).

 

  • The TCT Manager assumes responsibility to manage site-specific FACT accreditation readiness. Facilitates audits/inspections for FACT, CIBMTR, and Immune Effector Cell manufacturers.

 

  • Evaluates and analyzes the effectiveness of department services and quality improvement activities and initiate and/or provide oversight of new and ongoing programs/projects related to clinical and service process improvement ensuring compliance with internal as well as external regulatory reporting agencies and.

 

 

Qualifications:

  • Education: 4 Year / Bachelor’s Degree, required. Heath-Related Field or Nursing.
  • Experience: 3 years of demonstrated leadership in Transplantation & Cellular Therapy, required. 
  • Licensure/Certification: RN or Certification in Leadership, preferred. 
  • Additional Skills (required):
    • Ability to complete generic or department specific competencies.
    • Ability to work with management teams and physicians; demonstrate interpersonal skills and communication skills.
    • Able to work independently without close supervision.
    • Demonstration of high energy and flexibility to accommodate one program's interest in two locations through partnership and mutuality.
    • Exceptional organizational and multitasking skills with attention to fine detail.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
    • Desire to be vested in the culture and nuisances of the TCT Program.
    • Desire to learn and master basic fundamentals of TCT and be a lifelong learner of ongoing advancements and improvement in TCT practice.
    • Must maintain a cooperative and positive attitude.

 

  • Additional Skills (preferred):
    • Knowledge of HCT and cellular therapy processes, including mobilization, apheresis, conditioning regimens, HCT/cellular product infusion, pre and post TCT patient care, chimeric antigen receptor T- cell (CAR T) therapies and complications, Center for International Blood & Marrow Research (CIBMTR) reporting, and standards of the Foundation for the Accreditation of Cellular Therapy (FACT) preferred.
    • Strong critical thinking, problem solving, and attentiveness to detail. Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to deal effectively in a team environment. Demonstrates accuracy and attention to detail. Ability to closely follow established procedures. Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare reports. Ability to supervise and train employees, to include organizing, prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments. Experience and/or knowledge of chemotherapy, mobilization, apheresis, and transplantation and cellular therapy treatment plans. Understanding of patient safety vein-to-vein, chain of custody/identity workflows. Advanced knowledge of FACT safety principles, methods, and procedures and Center for International Blood & Marrow Research (CIBMTR) reporting. Knowledge of Federal, State, and local regulations, guidelines, and standards for the provision of HCT and Cellular Therapy services.
