The Center for Quantum Computing (CQC) is hiring a Software Development Manager to lead a team of software engineers building applications and infrastructure that support our quantum device fabrication facility. You will own the software stack powering our Manufacturing Execution System, ML-driven inspection systems, and LLM-powered research tools. You will work closely with Scientists, Hardware Engineers, Process Engineers, and Technical Program Managers.

This is a hands-on technical leadership role, you will assume a technical lead's responsibilities by setting architectural direction, making key strategic design decisions for the team's stack.

Key job responsibilities

  • Hire, develop, and retain a high-performing team of software engineers; set technical direction through hands-on involvement in architecture, design and code reviews.
  • Work directly with scientists and engineers to understand their problems and propose workable solutions. Translate user stories into software design documents demonstrating sensible trade-offs between complexity and delivery.
  • Partner with fabrication engineers, research scientists, and program management to define roadmaps translating research needs into software capabilities
  • Drive ML-powered initiatives including automated optical inspection systems that detect and classify defects on wafers
  • Lead LLM integration projects enabling scientists to query, visualize, and analyze fabrication data through natural language interfaces and autonomous agents

About the team

You will be managing the Device Lifecycle software development team within the AWS Center of Quantum Computing. Our team is comprised of software engineers who are building software that enables scaling up quantum computing technologies.
