UPMC Hillman Cancer Center is currently hiring for a Manager, Radiation Oncology to support our UPMC Pinnacle network office located in Harrisburg, PA. This position will work a regular Full Time daylight schedule Monday through Friday supporting Radiation Oncology operations at our Pinnacle Hillman Cancer Center location.
The Radiation Oncology Manager is responsible for the leadership and management of the Hillman Cancer Center Radiation Oncology office at Pinnacle. Responsibilities include the management of clinical operations, quality management, regulatory affairs, continuing education, and fiscal responsibilities. The Manager identifies opportunities to improve patient safety and participates in projects and programs designed to reduce errors, improve processes, and to create a mindfulness culture for patient safety.

Responsibilities:
Continuing Education Program: Management Assesses learning needs of staff utilizing surveys, QA Program Results, advice from Radiation Oncologists, and new processes and procedures. Implements or coordinates training programs to meet the needs of the staff. Seeks approval for Continuing Education Credits to enable the staff to earn required education credits. Maintains CE records.
Regulatory Affairs Management: Coordinates the regulatory compliance activities and maintains continuous departmental readiness for inspections and surveys. Acts as a liaison to Radiation Safety Officer, medical physicists, medical director, and coordinates safety compliance program. Acts as a liaison to Biotronics regarding the maintenance of all equipment. Serves as a liaison to the Compliance Department and provides periodic reporting on compliance monitoring activities.
Clinical Operations Management: Coordinates the operations of the Radiation Oncology Department(s.Monitors operating statistics and patterns to identify trends and changes across sites as well as the external environment. Through positive leadership techniques influences and oversees chief therapists, nurses, and all other staff. Ensures adequate personnel coverage to meet volume demands and adjust schedules as necessary to ensure patient safety standards. Develops/Implements/Administers network policies and procedures to standardize quality patient care at each site. Understands and implements all Human Resource activity including, but not limited to, HR Policies, hospital and departmental competencies, job descriptions, performance reviews, corrective action, recruitment, retention, and employee orientation. Manages fairly and consistently as evidenced by no substantiated employee complaints. Produces high-quality work in a timely fashion to meet established deadlines. Work is accurate and substantiated by fact. Provide effective financial oversight of departmental cost center(s by balancing expenses against budget. Manages effectively through others by establishing predetermined goals and objectives. Utilizes techniques for inspecting results in a consistent and reportable manner. Utilizing a 'shared governance approach works collaborative with Sr. Director of Radiation Oncology Operations and UPMC Cancer Centers Leadership staff, other site managers, HR Leadership, and all other staff in the operations of the radiation oncology department(s.Utilizes effective communication techniques with customers, staff, management, and senior leadership in daily operations.
Quality Assurance/CQI Program Management: Prioritizes patient safety. Oversees the department QA program and establishes meaningful, measurable QA programs to meet regulatory demands. Oversees departmental CQI Activities. Conducts CQI meetings, sets goals and objectives for improvement, and measures results utilizing benchmarks/scorecard. Results are documented using UPMC standards. Acts as a liaison between Biotronics and UPMC Cancer Centers functional areas. Works collaborative with the site Medical Director, other Radiation Oncologists, and all staff to maintain high standards for quality service.
Fiscal Responsibilities: Supervises and oversees site budget, including operational and capital budgets in collaboration with the Medical Director. Monitors and analyzes financial performance, including profitability and volume metrics. Implements appropriate changes to increase efficiencies, enhance revenue, and control expenses. Maintains FTEs at budgeted levels or can justify increases/decreases based on site volumes. Maintains supply and total expenses at budgeted levels or can justify increases/decreases based on site volumes. Oversees billing and revenue capture initiatives working in collaboration with the site's Medical Director. Working in collaboration with the appropriate personnel including the UPMC Cancer Centers leadership team, oversee new construction, renovation projects, and business utilization. Assess existing needs and plans for new programs to meet the site's needs.
Bachelor's Degree with 3-5 years of progressive management experience OR an associate's degree with 5-7 years of progressive management experience required.
Master's Degree and Radiation Therapy experience preferred.
Good communication and interpersonal skills necessary.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
ARRT Registration in good standing or Board Eligibility within six months of hire preferred. CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire.
