We have an immediate opportunity for a Quality Manager. In this function you will manage the Quality Department located within a manufacturing plant and ensure products are produced in accordance with defined Corporate Quality standards. This individual reports to the Plant Manager.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Follows plant safety procedures and guidelines
• Know emergency procedures and what to do in the event of power outages, machine failures, workplace injuries, etc.
• Wears and utilizes personal protective equipment (PPE) as required
• Understand and identifies Lock-out/Tag-out procedures
• Informs supervisor of safety issues; reports any workplace injury or incident immediately
• Support SQF through compliance with SQF standard practices and policies
• Assist SQF teams, audits, and documentation as necessary
• In absence of the Quality Manager, the roles and responsibilities of this position will be fulfilled as designated, documented, and approved by the Plant Manager
• Ensures optimal customer satisfaction through proper quality management from procurement of materials into plant facility, through the delivery of finished goods
• Monitors manufacturing processes, products, and materials to ensure that all are operating within defined parameters and standards
• Maintains and achieves internal quality targets, measurements, and KPI’s
• Manages and organizes daily activities for all employees assigned to the Quality department
• Investigates customer (internal & external) quality issues from performing root cause analysis to issuing of CAPAs
• Oversees the development, implementation, review and maintenance of the SQF System (food safety fundamentals and the food safety plan)
• Takes appropriate action to ensure the integrity of the SQF System and communicates to relevant personnel all information essential to ensure the effective implementation and maintenance of the SQF System
• Be competent to implement and maintain HACCP based food safety plans; and have an understanding of the SQF Code level 2 and the requirements to implement and maintain SQF System relevant to the supplier scope of certification
• Responsible for validating changes to food safety fundamentals and food safety plans that have an impact on the supplier’s ability to deliver safe food products
• Responsible for validation and verification activities and ensures accurate records of quality compliance
• Participates as facilitator or leader of Kaizen and other cross-functional quality improvement team events
• The Quality Manager is the point of contact for regulatory inspections and 2nd and 3rd party audits
• In absence of the Quality Manager, the roles and responsibilities of this position will be fulfilled as designated, documented, and approved by the Plant Manager
• Ensures consistency with Company quality standards, practices, and policies
• Leads change efforts at manufacturing plant to improve and enhance quality systems
• Strengthens role, presence and impact of the Quality department within the manufacturing plant
• Implements and provides training of quality procedures throughout the plant
• Liaises with Sales, Client Services, Operations, and Supply Chain groups to respond to any customer concerns
• Liaises with Operations and Supply Chain groups to coordinate and drive internal corrective actions of identified quality problems
• Works with the Operations group to assist in their achievement of schedule attainment goals
• Directs and supervises Quality department employees
• Responsible for identification of required training of plant employees in SQF and related quality and food safety plans
• Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws
• Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems
• Conducts regular meetings with employees to review performance
• Participates in departmental, group, plant and other meetings
• Prepares for, coordinates, and leads inspections by clients, governmental agencies, or other entities
• Monitors accuracy, quality and integrity of data entered into business and quality systems
• Monitors and tracks quality performance metrics
• Oversees document control over the Quality department
• Regularly issues quality reports to management
