The Y-USA Information Technology organization partners with leading practices to develop secure, strategic solutions that strengthen association well-being and community impact. The department leverages Data and AI to drive insight and innovation while responsibly sustaining Y USA’s core systems and providing trusted guidance, advisory services, and support to advance the YMCA Movement.

 

The Manager, Quality Engineering will establish and lead an automation-first quality engineering function, embedding quality into the SDLC across core applications, integrations, and data flows. This role is responsible for shifting the organization from reactive QA to proactive, scalable, and automated quality practices.

 

YMCA of the USA (Y-USA) embraces a remote-first working environment which means most employees work remotely from a home office within the continental United States. 

Responsibilities:

Quality Strategy & Governance

  • Define and implement enterprise-wide quality engineering strategy
  • Establish standards for testing, validation, and release readiness
  • Define and enforce Definition of Done (DoD) and quality gates

Automation-First Testing

  • Design and implement scalable automation frameworks (API and integration-first)
  • Build reusable automated test suites for critical business workflows
  • Minimize reliance on manual testing through automation

CI/CD & Continuous Testing

  • Embed automated testing into Azure DevOps pipelines
  • Ensure testing is integrated into build and release workflows
  • Enable continuous testing practices across all teams

Integration & Data Quality

  • Validate cross-system integrations and data flows
  • Implement automated checks for data integrity and synchronization
  • Partner with Data team on data quality and validation strategy

Release Governance & Risk Management

  • Define release validation and QA sign-off processes
  • Lead defect tracking, triage, and root cause analysis
  • Ensure risk-based release decisions and production readiness
Qualifications:

A successful candidate will possess a majority of the following professional and personal attributes and competencies:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher required in a relevant field such as Business, or related disciplines required.
  • 4-8 years of experience required
  • Advanced functional skills
  • Intermediate industry knowledge and experience
  • Entry to intermediate managerial skills
  • Complex/advanced functional and operations tasks
  • High degree of decision-making within own area
  • Focused on policy and strategy implementation for short-term results
  • Internal and external communications
  • High influence over teams and within the function
  • May set goals and objectives for team members for achievement of operational results

Posted Salary Range: USD $115,000.00 - USD $141,000.00 /Yr.
