Overview
We are seeking a Manager, Physical Security Operations to lead the day-to-day execution and supervision of physical security operations within a mission-critical data center environment.
Reporting to the Director of Physical Security Operations, this role serves as the on-site operational leader responsible for ensuring disciplined execution of access control, surveillance, incident response, patrols, and secure logistics activities. The position oversees contracted security providers and ensures strict adherence to post orders, SOPs, EOPs, and organizational standards.
This role operates in a 24/7/365 high-availability environment and requires strong field presence, real-time decision-making, and consistent enforcement of security protocols to protect personnel, assets, and infrastructure.
Key ResponsibilitiesSecurity Operations Leadership
•Supervise daily physical security operations across all assigned posts and shifts
•Ensure uninterrupted 24/7/365 coverage in alignment with staffing plans and operational requirements
•Enforce post orders, SOPs, and EOPs through routine inspections and direct oversight
•Serve as the primary escalation point for on-site security incidents and operational issues
•Maintain real-time situational awareness of site conditions, access status, and potential risks
Access Control & Site Security
•Oversee administration of employee, visitor, vendor, and contractor access
•Ensure compliance with badge systems, visitor management, and vehicle screening protocols
•Enforce site rules including PPE requirements, uniform standards, and controlled access zones
•Review access logs, visitor records, and exception reports for accuracy and compliance
Surveillance & Incident Response
•Oversee alarm monitoring, CCTV operations, and intrusion detection systems
•Coordinate and direct response to security incidents including breaches, alarms, and emergencies
•Ensure proper incident documentation, reporting, and evidence handling
•Support post-incident reviews, root cause analysis, and corrective actions
Secure Logistics & Material Handling
•Oversee secure screening, handling, and documentation of inbound and outbound materials
•Ensure strict adherence to chain-of-custody protocols
•Supervise package screening operations and associated logging procedures
•Partner with shipping and receiving teams to maintain security and compliance standards
•Leverage cross-trained personnel to support both security and logistics operations
Vendor & Performance Management
•Manage performance of contracted security providers against KPIs and SLAs
•Address performance gaps, attendance issues, and training needs in coordination with leadership
•Support training, cross-training, and requalification of guard force personnel
•Participate in audits of security systems, processes, and personnel performance
Cross-Functional Coordination
•Partner with Mission-Critical Operations, EH&S, Facilities, and Security leadership
•Participate in site-wide safety meetings, drills, and operational briefings
•Support emergency preparedness initiatives and coordinated response exercises
•Provide operational insights and reporting to leadership teams
Required Experience
•5–8+ years of experience in physical security operations within mission-critical or high-reliability environments (data centers, logistics hubs, corporate campuses, military, etc.)
•Experience supervising security teams and/or managing contracted guard services
•Strong working knowledge of access control systems, CCTV, alarms, intrusion detection, and visitor management platforms
•Experience supporting secure shipping/receiving operations, package screening, and chain-of-custody procedures
•Ability to operate in a fast-paced, 24/7 environment with strong decision-making and leadership capabilities
•Strong communication and coordination skills across cross-functional teams
Additional Qualifications
•Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Security Management, Business Administration, Military discipline, or equivalent experience
•Professional certifications such as PSP, CPP, or similar preferred
•Ability to pass background checks and meet fitness-for-duty requirements
Scope & Authority
•Operational authority over on-site physical security activities during assigned shifts
•Authority to enforce post orders, deny or revoke access, and stop work for safety or security concerns
•Authority to escalate incidents and initiate emergency response protocols
•Strategic policy decisions, contract changes, and staffing model adjustments are escalated to the Director
