Job Description
A professional management position assuming 24-hour responsibility for supervising and coordinating the administrative and operational activities in the assigned areas. In collaboration with interdisciplinary team members, assures safe, efficient and cost effective care to the patients within the assigned areas. Assists in the provision of care to patients of all age groups.
1.
Registration, Certification or Licensure Requirement:
Current Ohio RN Licensure; Current Basic Life Support Certificate Required; Certification in area of specialty preferred.
2.
Education:
Must have a minimum of a Bachelor's degree, B.S.N. preferred; however, alternate degrees will be considered.
3.
Experience:
Work requires level of knowledge of organization and operation of a patient care area, and knowledge of nursing care techniques and methods, generally acquired through three to five years of experience as a professional nurse, with one year experience in appropriate specialty area (may be concurrent). Prior management/supervisory experience preferred.

Knowledge and Abilities:
a. Must possess interpersonal skills sufficient to provide effective leadership.
b. Must possess analytical abilities necessary to oversee and organize the work of others and to develop and administer policies, procedures, budgets and effect sound nursing practices.
The Clinical Manager operationalizes the institutions philosophy of nursing care delivery and participates in the development of departmental goals. The Clinical Manager is responsible for all professional and hourly employees within the assigned areas.
Facilitates patient care including organization and management within established policies, procedures, standards of care, budgetary parameters and strategic objectives.
Assesses, plans, implements and evaluates patient care.
Develop staffing guidelines that support current budget and external benchmarks.
Utilizes appropriate interpersonal and management styles to create a working environment that is conducive to the achievement of tasks and provides a high quality working environment for all team members.
Demonstrates technical and clinical competence in area of specialty, through continuing educational activities.
Responsible for developing and participating in performance improvement activities in accordance with the institutional quality plan. Holds accountability for Core Measures and re-enforces core measure compliance with staff.
Develops and monitors annual capital and operating budgets.
Interviews, hires, develops, counsels, and evaluates staff in order to maintain a highly competent, mission-oriented, and values driven team.
Participates on various institutional committees as appointed.
Prioritizes management activities to meet established time frames.
Serves as a mentor and role model within the institution and professional community.
Participates in the development, review and revision of policies and procedures consistent with the institutional practice.
Identifies and supports evidence-based practice and nursing research opportunities and activities.
Provides and supports educational opportunities and activities.
Collaborates with and supports established nursing organization structures.
Adheres to the standards and policies of the Corporate Responsibility Program, including the duty to comply with applicable laws and regulations, and reporting to designated Manager (or employer hotline) any suspected unethical, fraudulent, or unlawful acts or practices.
Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient served on assigned unit.
Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth & development over the life span by completing continuing education program.
Adheres to all standards and policies regarding safety/patient safety initiatives.
