Manager of Training & Development

Essential Functions:

Training Department Leadership & Administration

  • Provide leadership, direction, and oversight of the training team.
  • Supervise and support Training Specialists and other training team members.
  • Develop department goals, objectives, and performance metrics aligned with organizational priorities.
  • Manage training schedules, calendars, classroom logistics, and resource allocation.
  • Monitor training compliance and ensure required training is completed within established timeframes.
  • Evaluate training effectiveness through participant feedback, assessments, performance metrics, and organizational outcomes.
  • Ensure training records and documentation are maintained accurately and in compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with leaders across the organization to identify training needs and development opportunities.

Leadership Development & Coaching

  • Design, implement, and continuously improve leadership development programs for supervisors.
  • Facilitate monthly Supervisor Development programs and other leadership learning opportunities.
  • Develop and deliver training on topics including:
  • Communication and interpersonal effectiveness
  • Employee engagement
  • Coaching and feedback

Leadership Coaching & Field Support

  • Serve as a trusted advisor and coach to supervisors throughout the organization.
  • Conduct regular visits to programs and departments to build relationships, understand operational challenges, and identify leadership development opportunities.
  • Partner with leaders to improve team effectiveness, employee engagement, communication, accountability, and workplace culture.
  • Provide one-on-one and group coaching to leaders on employee relations, performance management, conflict resolution, difficult conversations, change management, and team development.
  • Observe leadership practices in real-world settings and provide constructive feedback, guidance, and support.
  • Serve as a resource for leaders seeking guidance on supervisory best practices and organizational expectations.
  • Monitor trends and recurring challenges across programs and use those insights to develop targeted leadership development initiatives.
  • Facilitate follow-up coaching and accountability after leadership development programs to reinforce learning and application in the workplace.
  • Establish and maintain a visible presence throughout the organization to support leaders and foster a culture of continuous learning and development.

Training Delivery

  • Serve as a facilitator for leadership and organizational development programs.
  • Function as a backup trainer when staffing needs, vacancies, leave coverage, or operational demands require.
  • Assist with onboarding, orientation, compliance training, and specialty training as needed.
  • Maintain proficiency in organizational policies, procedures, and training content.
  • Support organizational initiatives by delivering training and presentations as needed.

Qualifications:

Education

Bachelors degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Education, Business Administration, Psychology, or a related field, or equivalent relevant professional experience.

Experience

  • Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in training, learning and development, organizational development, leadership development, or a related field.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of supervisory or management experience preferred.
  • Experience providing coaching and consultation to supervisors and managers preferred.
  • Experience in healthcare, behavioral healthcare, nonprofit, or human services settings preferred.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong knowledge of adult learning principles and instructional design.
  • Demonstrated ability to coach, mentor, and develop leaders at multiple organizational levels.
  • Excellent presentation and facilitation skills.
  • Strong relationship-building and consultation skills.
  • Ability to assess leadership needs and develop practical solutions.
  • Strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to analyze training needs and evaluate program effectiveness.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and influencing skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Proficiency with learning management systems (LMS), Microsoft Office applications, and virtual learning platforms.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Directly supervises training team members and carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with organizational policies and applicable laws.

Working Conditions

  • Primarily office-based with frequent travel between organizational locations.
  • Regular visits to organizational programs and service sites required.
  • Ability to facilitate training and presentations for both small and large groups.
