Job Title: Manager of Surgical Services

Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Manager of Surgical Services to provide leadership and operational oversight for surgical patient care areas within an acute care hospital setting.
This role is responsible for ensuring safe, high-quality patient care, maintaining compliance with clinical, regulatory, and accreditation standards, and driving operational efficiency and service excellence. The Manager will collaborate closely with interdisciplinary teams to support positive patient outcomes and departmental performance.
This position includes 24/7 accountability for assigned surgical services departments.
Key Responsibilities
Clinical & Operational Leadership
Provide leadership and accountability for safe, high-quality patient care delivery
Ensure nursing standards, policies, and procedures comply with regulatory and legal requirements
Oversee 24/7 operations of surgical services departments
Maintain appropriate staffing, equipment, and supply levels
Patient Care Coordination
Promote continuity of care through interdisciplinary collaboration
Communicate effectively with physicians, patients, and care teams
Coordinate patient care activities across departments
Quality & Performance Improvement
Develop and implement programs to monitor and improve quality outcomes
Support hospital-wide initiatives related to:
Patient safety
Core measures
Service excellence
Participate in patient rounding and proactively address patient needs
Culture & Patient Experience
Foster a patient-centered, healing environment
Promote teamwork, flexibility, and staff engagement
Support initiatives that enhance patient satisfaction and experience
Department Overview
10 Main Operating Rooms (ORs)
2 Cardiovascular Operating Rooms (CVORs)
Average surgical volume: ~25 cases per day
Oversees approximately 62 FTEs
No additional departments under this role
Required Qualifications
Education
Associate Degree (required)
Licensure & Certifications
Current Registered Nurse (RN) license (required)
Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) certification (required; must obtain within 30 days of hire)
Experience
Minimum 3+ years of recent Acute Care Operating Room leadership experience (required)
Experience must be within the past year
