Job Summary

Reporting to the Assistant Vice Chancellor of Supply Chain Management, the Manager of Strategic Projects and Analytics manages and coordinates projects and operational initiatives supporting Supply Chain Management (SCM) business operations, financial processes, reporting improvements, and organizational priorities. Using established project management methodologies and practices, the position leads process improvement efforts, supports system and operational changes, manages project activities and timelines, ensures coordination between business analysts supporting various workstreams and communicates with SCM leadership and campus stakeholders to support successful implementation of initiatives.

The Manager provides direct supervision and leadership for a small analytical team consisting of one Data Analyst and two Financial Analysts. The team is responsible for financial reconciliation, data and metric reporting, internal controls, and operational support for SCM programs and services. The position also serves as a liaison with business analysts supporting Procurement, AP, and Logistics, the Finance and AdminIT units, Aggie Enterprise stakeholders, and other campus partners to support reporting, issue resolution, compliance activities, and cross-functional collaboration.

The Manager participates in UC Davis and UC systemwide committees, projects, and collaborative initiatives related to supply chain operations, financial processes, reporting, analytics, and business improvement efforts, contributing to process consistency and continuous improvement across the organization.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position

• Project management certificate (PMP) and/or quality assurance processes like Six Sigma or Lean or equivalent project management experience.
• Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience or training.
• Advanced experience with project management or business development projects with progressive leadership and responsibilities.
• Experience applying project management methodologies, practices, and tools to support planning, implementation, communication, issue tracking, and successful completion of projects and initiatives.
• Demonstrated experience adapting to and leveraging new technologies, automation tools, and emerging solutions, including AI-enabled tools, to improve operational efficiency, reporting and analytics, financial operations, system-related activities and business processes.
• Demonstrated experience analyzing financial and operational data, preparing reports and metrics, and supporting operational or business decision-making.
• Demonstrated ability to integrate critical information across disciplines. Understands how projects relate to other business strategies and initiatives.
• Demonstrated attention to detail, advanced organization, problem-solving and project management skills. Proven leadership ability, determine relevance and prioritize tasks, put forth persuasive arguments.
• Effective skill at tracking effort and project progress. Demonstrated strong conceptual and planning skills to analyze projects of broad and diverse scope. Understands the cost impact of projects, project tracking tools and metrics.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Oracle Fusion Cloud, Aggie Enterprise, and/or Concur Expense solutions.
• Experience supporting financial reporting, reconciliation, internal controls, or operational analytics in a higher education or public sector environment.
• Experience supervising or leading professional staff.
• Proficiency using business software applications including spreadsheet, database, reporting, presentation, and data visualization tools. Knowledge of UC policies, procedures, and accounting practices.

Department Overview

Supply Chain Management is responsible for delivering value to the university through internal services and external supplier partnerships. Services lines include Strategic Sourcing, Procurement and Contracting Services, Distribution Services, Accounts Payable and Travel Accounting, Banking Card Services, Storehouse Operations, Conference and Event Services, and Repro Graphics Services. The department encompasses approximately 145 career staff with an annual operating budget of $24M.

Strategic Projects and Analytics is responsible for planning, executing, and implementing strategic projects across the Supply Chain Management organization. The team provides oversight of the financial system, Aggie Enterprise. The unit ensures financial controls and data compliance are in place for the SCM organization as a whole.

Work Environment

UC Davis is a smoke and tobacco free campus effective January 1, 2014.
