Overview:
The Ambulatory Services Manager is responsible for planning, directing, and overseeing the operational activities of ambulatory medical practices. This role ensures excellence in staffing, practice growth, workflow optimization, EMR efficiency, customer service, and financial performance. The Manager develops and implements policies and procedures that support organizational goals while driving operational excellence and a high-quality patient experience.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinate daily operational activities across ambulatory practices to ensure service standards are met.
- Plan, organize, and oversee staff schedules and assignments to support operational needs.
- Facilitate efficient patient flow throughout the practice and address patient concerns with a focus on patient satisfaction and experience.
- Ensure accuracy and compliance in patient registration, referrals, payment collection, vital signs documentation, laboratory testing, and related patient care activities.
- Implement and monitor processes that improve workflow efficiency, including:
- Scheduling
- Referral management
- Pre-registration
- Visit ticket entry
- Time-of-service procedures
- Collaborate with clinical and administrative teams to develop and maintain office procedures, protocols, and orientation programs.
- Identify opportunities to improve EMR utilization and operational systems and provide recommendations for enhancements.
Qualifications:
Required Education
- Associate's Degree in a relevant field of study; OR
- Five (5) years of directly related experience may be substituted for the degree requirement.
Preferred Education
- Bachelor's Degree in Health Administration or a related field.
- Master's Degree in Health Administration (MHA) or Business Administration (MBA).
Required Experience
- 3–5 years of ambulatory healthcare experience.
- Minimum of 3 years of leadership or supervisory experience in an ambulatory healthcare setting.
