Description:
POSITION PURPOSE
The Manager - Medical Staff Services assists the Director in managing the activities of the Medical Staff Office at Trinity Health Livonia.
They serve as the lead for the credentialing staff, setting priorities and establishing their workflow. Make decisions by exercising good judgment and confidentiality in accordance with Hospital and Medical Staff policies and procedures. Working closely with the Director may serve as a liaison with various hospital departments and/or functions in effecting change; improving processes; handling communications, etc. as they relate to Medical Staff Services.
MINIUMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Bachelor's Degree in Health Care Administration, Business Administration, or associated degree is required.
Training and Experience:
A minimum of 3-5 years of related experience desired.
Business operations experience in healthcare required.
Six Sigma and/or LEAN training preferred.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Supervises Medical Staff Office credentialing staff, including work assignment, delegation, recruitment, job description development, and performance evaluations.
Oversee development and maintenance of the Physician Directory and Medical Staff Bylaws.
Attends and supports Medical Executive Committee, Credentials, Bylaws, Department Chair, General Staff, and other meetings as requested.
Participates in development of the Medical Staff Office budget.
Partners with Quality and Performance Excellence leaders to better integrate quality, credentialing, and performance improvement processes.
Works with the Director on Joint Commission survey preparation and the development and implementation of required policies and procedures in compliance with Joint Commission and state and federal credentialing regulations.
Manages initial and reappointment credentialing through Board of Directors approval for all physicians and allied health professionals in accordance with Medical Staff Bylaws, policies, NAMSS, and Joint Commission standards.
Oversee notification of Board actions on privileges to applicants, medical staff members, and hospital leadership.
Facilitates ongoing practitioner monitoring and focused professional practice evaluations, including proctoring during the initial appointment or provisional period.
Oversee Medical Staff Office technology, including credentialing systems, online privilege lists and directories, and data reporting to Physician Services.
Collaborate with the Director on special projects that enhance medical staff services and support assigned activities to advance office operations.
May provide oversight of defined aspects of physician contract support, including payment coordination, approvals, and reporting.
