Training Curriculum & Rotational Duties
Throughout the program, you will rotate through and master the following areas:
- Non-Ferrous Operations: Learning the specifics of identifying, sorting, and processing non-ferrous metals.
- Yard Operations & Organization: Mastering the standards for organizing materials to maximize space and ensure safe, efficient workflows.
- Bailer Operations: Gaining technical proficiency in operating and maintaining essential processing equipment.
- Shipping & Receiving: Managing the flow of materials into and out of the facility, ensuring accurate documentation and logistics.
- Purchasing & Supplier Relations: Visiting supplier sites to view scrap, negotiating pricing based on current metal market trends, and providing elite customer service.
- Administrative & Financial Duties: Learning to manage P&L statements, supervise labor code compliance, and perform essential office functions.
Key Learning Objectives
As you progress toward a management role, you will be trained to:
- Promote Safety: Lead daily tailgates, perform safety conversations, and conduct monthly inspections to ensure a zero-incident environment.
- Drive Profitability: Identify opportunities to create efficient operations, reduce costs, and manage inventory levels effectively.
- Lead Teams: Understand how to train staff on company policies and gain the support of the workforce through strong interpersonal skills.
Qualifications
- Employees in this position prior to April 2014 are presumed to be qualified and are "grandfathered" into their positions.
- Must pass a medical physical and drug testMust pass a background check and credit check
- Preferred - high school diploma or GED and/or foreign education acceptable
- Bi-lingual (English & Spanish) language skills a plus
- Ability to: communicate with others effectively; understand direction (written or oral) and use basic math skills as the job demands
- An understanding of the metal market well enough to negotiate pricing, delivery process, and production demands
- Possess interpersonal skills to gain support of workforce and clientele when conducting business

Work Environment: Office and Scrap metal yard
Equipment & Tools: Office equipment, general tools, and training with mobile equipment

Hand Movements: Repetitive motions, typing
Schedule: Mon-Fri: 7:30 am - 4:00 pm (or later); Sat: 7:30 am - 12:00 pm (or later)
