Summary

Project HSSE Training Manager will manage the oversight, development and delivery of Venture Global's health, safety, security, and environmental training programs on the PQX project. Employee will manage a large-scale workforce consisting of Venture Global and Multiple Contractors to ensure the workforce is fully compliant with project and regulatory standards and deeply aligned with our proactive safety culture. Employee will manage the entire training lifecycle, from conducting needs assessments to tracking certifications and ensuring delivery of engaging HSSE instruction.

This is a contract position based in Point Celeste, LA.

General Description Duties & Responsibilities

  • Leads HSSE Training function at site to ensure continuous improvement of the programs and performance of Venture Global and their contractors.
  • Active member of both site's Leadership Teams working to develop site goals/strategies to achieve company initiatives. Support needs of the Contractor Training Managers.
  • Develops and recommends appropriate site HSSE Training strategies, policies, procedures, and management systems for assuring compliance to regulatory requirements and company policies.
  • Ensures the site HSSE Training programs and practices are consistent with Venture Global Standards and in compliance with local, state, and federal requirements.
  • Proactively develops and deploys HSSE Training programs to reduce work-related injuries and illnesses and prevent harm to the environment.
  • Acts as the champion to ensure proper investigation and follow-up is taken on safety concerns, near misses and incidents. Site lead focal point for Learning from Experience work process.
  • Addresses all inquiries and reporting requirements regarding health, safety, security, and environmental training matters.
  • Builds relationships and maintains on-going communications with project staff and external project personnel to develop and maintain a collaborative work environment across the site.
  • Manages organizational aspects of the Health, Safety, Security and Environmental Training functions to develop expertise and knowledge.
  • Sets performance and development goals with the department staff using Performance Management systems.
  • Works with Project Leadership, Corporate HSSE, and Legal organizations to share information on the health, safety, security, and environmental training issues on site.
  • Develops strategies for addressing HSSE training requirements, shares intelligence from the agencies and industry, and shares Best Practice processes from across the industry.
  • Develops and implements business driven and cost-effective asset protection strategies: Works with direct reports, contractors, and their staffs to develop and recommend business driven HSSE Training strategies.
  • Manages HSSE Training budgets with associated cost centers.

Qualifications

Required experience

  • B.S. Degree in Occupational Health and Safety Management or relevant degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 + years of relevant HSSE experience working in Heavy Construction.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability gained through prior management; minimum of 5 years in a leadership or management capacity is required.
  • Experience managing the entire HSSE training lifecycle, from conducting needs assessments to tracking attendance/certification and delivering engaging safety instruction.
  • Experience in developing a culture and drive for continuous improvement.
  • Competencies in building partnerships, driving innovation, motivational fit, technical skills, and deliver results.
  • Candidate must have strong leadership skills, including effective communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to interface with all departments and levels of the organization.
  • Possesses a high level of integrity and respect to motivate and lead their team
