Summary: The Manager, Financial Clearance is responsible for directing and coordinating all daily operational activities within the Financial Clearance function. This role ensures that patients receive timely and accurate verification of insurance benefits, authorization management, and financial risk assessment services. The Manager oversees end‑to‑end clearance processes that directly influence organizational revenue integrity, service readiness, and the overall patient experience.
As a key leader within the Revenue Cycle space at Penn Medicine, the Manager provides operational oversight of financial clearance workflows, ensures adherence to payer requirements, and implements strategies that reduce avoidable denials and improve first‑pass claim success. The role applies strong analytical, operational, and problem‑solving skills to monitor performance, identify root causes of operational barriers, and drive sustainable improvements in accuracy, efficiency, and service delivery.
This position is accountable for managing staff performance, driving continuous improvement, and maintaining high levels of productivity, responsiveness, and customer service. The Manager collaborates with scheduling, clinical, utilization management, patient access, billing, and payer contracting teams to ensure seamless coordination of care and financial clearance readiness. Additionally, the Manager partners with operational and financial leaders to support revenue optimization efforts, enhance key performance indicators, and ensure appropriate stewardship of resources.
