Summary:
This position manages and is responsible for Physician Accounting, Leases and Fixed Assets. This position is also responsible for financial planning and analysis activities to identify risks and opportunities and contributes to the achievement of the organizations short and long-term financial goals.
Responsibilities:
1.Communication and Relationships - Establishes and maintains positive, ongoing internal and external business relationships
Financial Analysis - Manages complex financial and operational analysis and evaluates findings, prepares reports and makes recommendations to senior leadership about the financial implications of past and proposed transactions. Monitors and analyzes budget expenditures and prepares detailed reports and analysis on trends. Compiles budgetary and fiscal data received from assigned departments.
Leadership - Serves a department lead, mentoring and training lower level staff and assuming responsibility for the most complex budget and financial issues.
HR Administration - Effectively recruits, selects, hires, coaches, and uses appropriate corrective actions with staff in accordance with UNC Health policies and procedures. Creates an environment conducive to retaining staff. Provides staff with accurate annual performance feedback and the opportunity to set developmental goals. Implements strategies to improve employee satisfaction inclusive of strategies to involve employees in decision making.
Project Management - Ensures financial and operational planning, and analysis projects are conducted successfully, credibly and timely.
Strategy Development and Execution - Contributes to the development of financial and operational strategies for the healthcare system that aligns with the organizations overall vision and its current and long-term business objectives.
Policies & Procedures: Develop applicable policies and procedures to support business objectives.

Education Requirements:
Masters degree or Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Health Administration or related field.
Licensure/Certification Requirements:
Current CPA Certification Preferred
Professional Experience Requirements:
If a Master's degree: Five (5) years relevant work experience
If a Bachelors degree: Seven (7) years relevant work experience
A minimum of two years of supervisory experience is required.
Knowledge/Skills/and Abilities Requirements:
Excellent interpersonal skills, including written and verbal communication.
This position will routinely interact with other financial, non-financial and clinical departments including staff, department managers, business development, executive leadership etc.
The successful candidate will have strong accounting and financial skills that are complemented by great communication and collaboration skills that enable them to explain and discuss financial concepts to both financial and non-financial personnel.
This role is actively involved in many complex financial matters within a large, growing organization. A strong technical accounting background is required including but not limited to:
Current CPA license strongly preferred but not required.
Strong demonstrated ERP systems experience. Lawson / Infor experience preferred.
Intermediate level Excel skills are assumed and important.
Strong organizational skills, with a planning mindset.
Ability to work cross functionally and influence appropriately.
