About Riverstone Logistics

Riverstone Logistics (RLX) is a big and bulky supply chain powerhouse delivering seamless final mile, middle mile, warehousing, fulfillment, and storage solutions through a nationally integrated platform.

Founded in 2017 by five partners who believed logistics could be built around something bigger than moving freight, we began with furniture delivery and grew into a nationwide provider serving complex supply chains across the United States.

We are a purpose-driven company. We exist to use our God-given talents and opportunities to love our neighbors, serve our communities, and improve our industry. That purpose shapes how we lead our teams, how we partner with our customers, and how we take ownership of every delivery.

Our people, who we call Extra Milers, bring genuine integrity and care to every mile. If you build trust easily, communicate with clarity, and want your work to mean something, we want to meet you. If you are looking for a place where people genuinely matter, you have found it.

Role Overview

Mission: The Manager, Carrier Relationships is the primary relationship owner for RLX's Motor Carrier network after onboarding. You keep the existing network healthy and productive by building strong partnerships, tracking service standards, supporting contract compliance, and resolving issues before they turn into lost capacity. This position requires the candidate to be open to travel up to 50% or more of their time, with primary focus on the Gulf Coast states (FL, AL, MS, LA).

Core Objective: To strengthen RLX's Motor Carrier partnerships and protect network stability by owning Relationship Management across the assigned Gulf Coast footprint (FL, AL, MS, LA), with a primary focus on the DeFuniak Springs, Florida operation. You do this by giving leaders clear visibility into service standards, keeping contracts and settlement aligned, and making RLX the 3PL of Choice among the Motor Carriers who contract with us.

Who You Are

You are an experienced logistics professional who builds trust with Motor Carriers and holds high standards for service quality without needing positional authority to do it. Motor Carriers are independent business owners with other options, and you understand that the relationship is a business-to-business partnership, not an employment one.

You know how to balance relationship building with clear expectations. You are the person Motor Carriers want to hear from, even when the conversation is difficult, because you are fair, direct, and focused on solutions.

You understand how final mile Motor Carrier networks work at scale. You can spot service trends, network gaps, and partnership opportunities before they become problems, and you protect the arm's length posture in every interaction.

You move comfortably across Operations, Risk, Finance, and Profit Center Leaders, translating service data into decisions and keeping everyone aligned on what the network needs. You are energized by improving an industry, not just maintaining a process.

Key Characteristics We Are Looking For

  • Relationship Builder: You earn trust through consistency, follow-through, and honest communication. Motor Carriers see you as a true point of contact, not a middleman.
  • Service-Standards Partner: You track what matters, including the onboarding process, settlement agreements, and service quality, and you use that information to have productive conversations with Motor Carriers about what is working and what needs to change.
  • Cross-Functional Connector: You partner naturally with Operations, Risk, Finance, and the Capacity Sourcing team to keep the network healthy. You bring people together around shared outcomes.
  • Commercially Aware: You understand rate structures, contract terms, and the commercial dynamics of Motor Carrier partnerships. You can support contract compliance and settlement conversations with confidence.
  • Calm Under Pressure: When issues escalate, you are the steady hand. You de-escalate, coordinate the right people, and drive toward resolution. Run Through the Storm is how you operate.
  • Accountable Owner: You take full ownership of the Motor Carrier relationship after onboarding. If something falls through the cracks, you own it and fix it.

Essential Duties and Key Responsibilities

Motor Carrier Relationship Management

  • Serve as the primary relationship contact for Motor Carriers after onboarding, building and maintaining strong, productive partnerships across the assigned Gulf Coast footprint.
  • Communicate regularly with Motor Carriers to reinforce service standards, surface issues early, and support mutual success, using clear, direct communication rather than employment-style coaching.
  • Act as the point of contact when Motor Carrier issues need resolution and Operations or Risk have not been able to close them out.
  • Protect the business-to-business, arm's length nature of every Motor Carrier relationship, avoiding any language or practice that could be read as treating a Motor Carrier or their SPEs as RLX employees.

Service Visibility & Reporting

  • Track Motor Carrier service standards across measures such as on-time delivery, installation completion, claims, and customer satisfaction.
  • Use service data to inform partnership conversations, identifying strong Motor Carriers for expanded opportunity and flagging at-risk relationships before they become lost capacity.
  • Provide regular reporting on network health, service trends, and escalation activity to leadership, tying lost capacity to its revenue and EBITDA impact where relevant.

Contract Compliance & Settlement Support

  • Support Risk Management in monitoring contract compliance, rate adherence, and insurance requirements after onboarding.
  • Coordinate with Motor Carriers to address compliance gaps, documentation needs, and contractual questions.
  • Support contract renewal and settlement discussions in partnership with Operations and Finance, referencing the terms defined in Schedule A.

Network Quality & Stability

  • Identify relationship opportunities, including growth, continued partnership, or exit recommendations, based on service data and relationship insight, in coordination with Operations.
  • Collaborate with the Capacity Sourcing team to identify network gaps and inform future Motor Carrier recruiting priorities.
  • Support the development of strategic partnerships with strong Motor Carriers to expand capacity and capability across the footprint.

Cross-Functional Coordination

  • Partner with Capacity Sourcing and Operations to ensure a smooth handoff and integration of newly onboarded Motor Carriers.
  • Equip and support Profit Center Leaders so they can carry the day-to-day Motor Carrier relationship, recognizing that the department equips and Profit Center Leaders execute.
  • Provide relationship context and insight to support broader business decisions, including capacity planning and service model changes.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Five or more years of progressive experience in logistics, final mile, supply chain operations, or carrier and vendor relationship management.
  • Demonstrated experience building and maintaining productive partnerships with independent Motor Carrier networks or third-party service providers at scale.
  • Strong understanding of Motor Carrier service standards, contract structures, rate and settlement management, and compliance requirements in a 3PL or final mile environment.
  • Domiciled within the Gulf Coast band of Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, or Louisiana, with DeFuniak Springs, Florida strongly preferred.
  • Availability to travel to RLX’s sites in the Gulf Coast region, up to 50% or more of the employees time.

Skills & Abilities

  • Excellent relationship management and communication skills, with the ability to build trust with Motor Carriers while holding high service standards.
  • Strong analytical skills and comfort using service data, scorecards, and reporting tools to inform decisions.
  • Proven cross-functional collaboration across Operations, Risk, Finance, and Profit Center Leaders to drive aligned outcomes.
  • Strong commercial acumen, with experience supporting contract compliance and rate or settlement discussions.
  • Effective at de-escalation and conflict resolution in high-pressure, service-critical situations.
  • Self-directed and able to manage a remote, field-based portfolio with regular travel to Motor Carrier sites, operating locations, and industry events.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
