Description FBA Inventory Optimization Services (FIOS) is seeking a results-oriented Business Intelligence Manager to lead the development of AI-powered analytics infrastructure and GenAI-enabled data products across FBA's Growth Optimization portfolio. This role is central to FBA's generational transformation - pivoting from traditional reporting and reactive diagnostics to building intelligent, AI-native data systems that deliver predictive insights in minutes rather than days. As our AI development accelerates, Business Intelligence is becoming core infrastructure - not a supporting function. We are shifting from bespoke, one-off data solutions to building reusable data pipelines, shared analytics capabilities, and measurement frameworks that power every agent team we spin up. We are looking for a Manager, Business Intelligence Engineering to lead and grow our BI and analytics team supporting FBA's rapidly expanding AI product roadmap across Inventory Optimization Services - specifically Capacity Planning and Inventory Visibility domains. This is a high-impact, high-visibility player-coach role: you will personally contribute to our most technically demanding analytics engineering work while providing the technical oversight, prioritization, and career development that enables a team of high-performing BIEs and Business Analysts to scale. You will own the full scope of our data needs - building and maintaining the data models and pipelines that power our AI agents, creating the measurement frameworks that define how we track inventory lifecycle and business impact, and ensuring BAU reporting commitments are met without crowding out strategic infrastructure work. The ideal candidate is a technically exceptional BI leader who thinks big about what AI-powered data infrastructure can enable - not just for today's needs, but for the generative AI experiences the organization is building toward - while maintaining a relentless bias for action. You thrive in dynamic, ambiguous environments where the roadmap is evolving, the problems are genuinely hard, and the stakes are high. You earn trust through your craft: writing clean, scalable pipelines; designing measurement frameworks that hold up to scrutiny; and communicating technical complexity clearly to product and science leadership who depend on your judgment. You invent and simplify - always asking whether a shared, reusable solution can replace a one-off build - and you work backwards from Selling Partners, understanding that behind every metric is a business owner trying to grow, and that the data systems you build directly shape the guidance they receive. As the primary technical BI partner to product and science leadership across FIOS, you will set the standard for how BI is done across our organization as we scale. Key job responsibilities - Lead, mentor, and grow a team of BIEs and Business Analysts, providing technical guidance, career development, and prioritization aligned with FBA's AI-native transformation objectives. - Establish technical standards, code review practices, and documentation norms that ensure data quality, governance, and AI-readiness across FBA domains. - Design and build data and monitoring pipelines for AI-powered growth advisor products across FBA's portfolio - including seller recommendations, inventory optimization, and inbound efficiency experiences. - Architect reusable, shared data infrastructure across AI product teams - replacing one-off solutions with shared primitives (e.g., semantic layers, knowledge graphs, federated data models) that new teams can adopt from day one. - Define measurement infrastructure for AI-driven experiences, capturing seller engagement, adoption of key recommended actions, and attributable sales impact - ensuring data consistency across real-time APIs and batch systems. - Partner with product and science teams to establish causal frameworks connecting seller actions to business outcomes, enabling reliable attribution of AI-generated recommendations to measurable growth. - Ensure reliable delivery of weekly business reviews, performance metrics, and ad hoc analysis in support of goals and quarterly business reviews across FBA programs - Build prioritization frameworks that balance strategic infrastructure work (e.g., GenAI enablement, data governance) against recurring reporting commitments - investing in automation to reduce tactical work and shift team focus to strategic, AI-enabled delivery. - Serve as the primary BI technical partner for product, science, and engineering across FBA, acting as the connective tissue between FBA's data estate and AI-powered seller experiences. About the team At FIOS, we build the data products and systems that help sellers identify growth opportunities, co-develop strategies with AI, and execute those strategies across Amazon's core growth levers - advertising, promotions, pricing, listings, fulfillment, and more. Our work spans Seller Assistant (SA) and a growing portfolio of internal AI-powered capabilities targeting optimal inventory lifecycle management enabling seller growth and profitability across US and international marketplaces. Basic Qualifications - 7+ years of delivering results managing a business intelligence or analytics team, including employee development and performance management experience - 5+ years of quantitative and qualitative data science/business intelligence with significant business impact experience - Experience with SQL - Experience with ETL - Experience with data visualization using Tableau, Quicksight, or similar tools - Experience with R, Python, Weka, SAS, Matlab or other statistical/machine learning software - Bachelor's degree Preferred Qualifications - 5+ years of data warehouse technical architectures, data modeling, infrastructure components, ETL/ ELT and reporting/analytic tools and environments, data structures and hands-on SQL coding experience - 5+ years of working with Data & AI related technologies, including, but not limited to, AI/ML (Artificial Intelligence/Machine Learning), GenAI (Generative AI), Analytics, Database, and/or Storage experience Amazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status. It’s Always Day 1
At Amazon, it’s always “Day 1.” Now, what does this mean and why does it matter? It means that our approach remains the same as it was on Amazon’s very first day – to make smart, fast decisions, stay nimble, invent, and stay focused on delighting our customers. In our 2016 shareholder letter, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos shared his thoughts on how to keep up a Day 1 company mindset. “Staying in Day 1 requires you to experiment patiently, accept failures, plant seeds, protect saplings, and double down when you see customer delight,” he wrote. “A customer-obsessed culture best creates the conditions where all of that can happen.” You can read the full letter here

Our Leadership Principles
Our Leadership Principles help us keep a Day 1 mentality. They aren’t just a pretty inspirational wall hanging. Amazonians use them, every day, whether they’re discussing ideas for new projects, deciding on the best solution for a customer’s problem, or interviewing candidates.
