Job Description – Maintenance Worker


Position Title: Maintenance Worker
Location: Montclair/Elizabeth/Bloomfield/Newark areas


Position Summary


The Maintenance Worker is responsible for performing routine maintenance, repairs, and upkeep of the facility  This role supports a clean, safe, and functional environment for residents and staff by addressing maintenance needs in a timely and efficient manner.


Key Responsibilities


  • Perform general building maintenance and repairs, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and painting.

  • Complete preventive maintenance tasks as scheduled.

  • Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergency repair needs.

  • Inspect facility systems and equipment to identify and resolve issues.

  • Maintain maintenance logs, work orders, and repair records.

  • Assist with maintaining inventory of tools, equipment, and supplies; notify management when replacements are needed.

  • Support seasonal tasks such as snow removal, landscaping, and minor groundskeeping.

  • Follow all OSHA safety standards, building codes, and company policies.

  • Work collaboratively with management and staff to address operational maintenance needs.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications


  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical/vocational training in building maintenance preferred.

  • Minimum of 2–3 years of general maintenance experience preferred.

  • Basic knowledge of building systems (electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, etc.).

  • Ability to use hand and power tools safely and effectively.

  • Strong problem-solving and time-management skills.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.

Work Environment


  • This position requires standing, walking, bending, and lifting (up to 50 lbs.).

  • May require occasional evening, weekend, or on-call hours for emergencies.
