General Summary & Essential Responsibilities
In this seasonal role, your work plays an important part in keeping our community spaces clean, safe, and welcoming. By helping maintain County parks, playgrounds, and athletic areas, you support environments where residents and visitors can gather, stay active, and enjoy their surroundings.
Key Responsibilities --------------------
• Performs general custodial and grounds maintenance. • Cleans and disinfects restrooms; restocks supplies; performs basic plumbing and minor facility repairs. • Completes basic electrical, carpentry, painting, trash removal, and general maintenance tasks. • Safely mixes and uses cleaning and maintenance products. • Secures and monitors facilities; reports safety or security concerns. • Operates County vehicles, utility or all-terrain vehicles, and small tools and equipment as assigned. • Maintains equipment and storage areas in safe working condition. • Identifies and reports maintenance needs and safety hazards. • Maintains basic work records and reports. • May assist with event support, material transport between sites, emergency operations, and customer service as needed.
Min. Education, Licenses and Certifications -----------------------------------------
Education and Experience:
An equivalent combination of relevant training, education and experience:
High school diploma or equivalent. One (1) year of experience in a related field.
Licenses and/or Certificates:
Must maintain a valid driver's license.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities ------------------------------
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of departmental policies, plans, and procedures. Knowledge of modern office practices, plans, and procedures. Knowledge of proper cleaning methods and the safe use of cleaning materials and disinfectants. Knowledge of safe work methods and safety regulations pertaining to the work. Knowledge of shop mathematics and basic record keeping practices. Knowledge of basic painting, plumbing, and tools and techniques.
Skill in effective communication, both orally and in writing. Skill in prioritizing and organizing work. Skill in the use of office equipment such as a computer, multi-line telephone system, scanner, fax machine, and copier.
Ability to operate automotive/all-terrain vehicles and light-duty motor vehicles. Ability to follow written and oral instructions. Good written and oral communication skills. Ability to perform manual labor, sometimes under unfavorable weather conditions.
Depending upon assignment:
Ability to work long and/or late nights, early mornings, split shifts, on weekends and holidays. Ability to provide internal/external guidance and customer assistance via all forms of communication. Ability to operate motor vehicle. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with managers, service providers, other employees, and the general public.
Physical Demands ----------------
Stooping, crouching, walking, pulling, lifting, grasping, hearing, seeing up close, seeing far away, kneeling, reaching, pushing, talking, standing, climbing, finger movement, repetitive motions, depth perception.
Frequent lifting of up to 25 pounds; occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds.
