Description The City of Laguna Beach is excited to announce that we are accepting applications for the position of Maintenance Worker I in our Public Works and Utilities Department's Building and Facilities Maintenance Division. This position reports to an assigned Lead Worker or Supervisor. Assists skilled and semi-skilled maintenance workers in their activities and performs related work as required.

Qualifications Any combination of education and experience demonstrating the ability to effectively and successfully perform the duties of the position is considered qualifying. A typical combination is as follows:
License/Certificate Requirements A valid California Class B driver's license with tank vehicle endorsement is required to be completed within the probationary period. Must not have an automatic transmission restriction or an air brake restriction. The incumbent must be able to provide a DMV printout. In compliance with the Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and the City's policy on random testing for controlled substances and alcohol for commercially licensed drivers, candidates for this position who are commercially licensed are required to pass a drug test prior to placement in the position. All employees working in this position, who are subject to maintaining a commercial driver's license for the performance of duties, will be enrolled as participants in the City's Random Testing Program for Controlled Substances and Alcohol.
Supplemental Information This recruitment will establish an eligibility list that may be used to fill future vacancies in the same or lower classifications.

The appointing hiring authority will further review the job-related qualifications of those deemed eligible for hire before making selection decisions. Pre-Placement Process The selected candidate must successfully pass a fingerprint check with the State Department of Justice, a pre-placement physical and drug test, educational and employment verification, and reference check(s).
