This class makes general repairs and performs maintenance on County facilities as determined by a supervisor and area of specialty and may make simple repairs and adjustments to machines and equipment.

This is a "mandatory-testing" position that requires Drug Testing.

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

Performs routine preventive maintenance on applicable facilities, tools, and equipment

Identifies, troubleshoots, tests, adjusts, and repairs minor problems related to facilities, machines, and equipment in assigned area of responsibility; notifies appropriate individual(s) of problems requiring advanced troubleshooting and/or repair

Operates a variety of specialized tools and equipment in performing repair and maintenance activities

Prepares and maintains logs and records of daily activities

Installs equipment, light fixtures, and/or other applicable items; disassembles and reassembles equipment to replace worn and/or faulty parts

Monitors tool, supplies, and equipment inventory; notifies appropriate individual(s) when inventory needs to be replenished

Inspects, cleans, and maintains County vehicles

Performs other duties of a similar nature or level

Positions assigned to the Equestrian Center will be responsible for:

Cleaning, sanitizing, and stocking restrooms, showers, and other areas

Grounds keeping including mowing, blowing, and trimming grounds

Setting up and tearing down a variety of events

Trash management

Prepping and maintaining arenas and grounds

This position will require working weekend events

TYPICAL QUALIFCATIONS

Minimum Qualification Requirements:

Training and Experience:

High School Diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.) and up to one year of experience in area of specialty; or, a combination of education and experience equivalent to these requirements.

Licenses and Certifications:

Must possess a valid driver's license from state of residence, for those who are required to operate a motor vehicle

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Other Characteristics (KSAOs):

applicable tools and equipment of the trade

basic mathematics

general maintenance principles, methods, and techniques

occupational hazards and safety precautions

performing general labor and maintenance in assigned area of responsibility

operating applicable tools, equipment, and machinery

preparing and maintaining basic records

reading and comprehending manuals, specifications, drawings, and blueprints

communication and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, etc. sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction.

Emergency Management Responsibilities:

During emergency conditions, the incumbent of this position will automatically be considered an emergency service worker. This employee is subject to being called to work in the event of a disaster, such as a hurricane or other emergency situation, and is expected to perform emergency service duties, as assigned.

Physical Requirements:

Positions in this class typically require: climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, talking, hearing, seeing, finger and hand dexterity as well as repetitive motions.

Very Heavy Work: Exerting in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or in excess of 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or in excess of 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Incumbents may be subjected to moving mechanical parts, electrical currents, vibrations, fumes, odors, dusts, gases, poor ventilation, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures, inadequate lighting, work space restrictions, intense noises and travel.
