Position Summary
The Maintenance Worker/Custodian supports the Sail 250 event by ensuring all event areas remain clean, safe, and well-maintained throughout the duration of the event. This role is essential to providing a positive experience for guests, vendors, and staff by maintaining sanitation standards and responding promptly to maintenance needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain cleanliness of event grounds, including public spaces, restrooms, vendor areas, and high-traffic zones
- Perform routine trash collection and disposal; replace liners as needed
- Sweep, mop, and pressure wash surfaces as required
- Monitor and address spills, hazards, or unsafe conditions promptly
- Assist with setup and breakdown of cleaning stations and related equipment
- Support minor maintenance tasks (e.g., light repairs, replacing bulbs, securing loose items)
- Coordinate with event staff and supervisors to address urgent cleaning or maintenance issues
- Ensure compliance with safety guidelines and event protocols
- Provide courteous assistance to guests when needed
Qualifications
- Previous custodial, maintenance, or janitorial experience preferred
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Strong attention to detail and reliability
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently or as part of a team
- Good communication and customer service skills
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays during the event
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, and move for extended periods (8–12 hour shifts)
- Ability to lift up to 40–50 lbs
- Frequent bending, reaching, and carrying of materials and supplies
Work Schedule
- Must be available June 19–June 23
- Shifts may include early mornings, day shifts, evenings, and overnight coverage
