Northpoint Asset Management is hiring a skilled, hands-on Maintenance Technician to perform residential maintenance and repairs across our Single-Family Rental (SFR) portfolio in the greater Kansas City, MO metropolitan area. This is a full time position designed to match workload needs while maintaining consistent service standards.
You’ll work independently to diagnose issues, complete work orders, and support unit turns, covering HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and general carpentry. You’ll also coordinate with vendors when needed and maintain clear documentation so homes stay safe, functional, and rent-ready.
No on-call requirement currently: a major perk that supports strong work-life balance.
What You’ll Do
Residential Maintenance & Repairs
Perform maintenance and repairs across SFR homes, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, drywall, paint, appliances, doors/locks, and general carpentry
Diagnose issues quickly and complete work orders efficiently with minimal supervision
Handle HVAC service calls, basic troubleshooting, and seasonal maintenance (as qualified)
Perform plumbing repairs such as leaks, clogs, fixture replacements, and water heater-related work
Follow safety standards and Northpoint quality expectations on every job
Turns, Inspections & Punch Lists
Complete unit turns including inspections, repairs, and punch lists to prepare homes for new residents
Perform property assessments to identify maintenance needs, safety concerns, and recommended next steps
Help build repair scopes by documenting issues, photos, and materials needed
Ensure homes are safe, secure, and rent-ready
Communication, Vendors & Documentation
Communicate clearly and professionally with residents, vendors, and internal team members
Coordinate and oversee third-party vendors/contractors when required to keep work moving
Maintain accurate work order notes, photos, and material usage to support cost-effective operations
Track progress and provide timely updates to supervisors and property managers
What You’ll Need
Residential maintenance experience in single-family, multifamily, or related environments
Ability to work independently, prioritize effectively, and deliver consistent quality
Strong communication skills and a service-oriented, professional approach
Reliable vehicle with active automobile insurance coverage, smartphone, and computer (required)
Light tools appropriate for residential maintenance tasks (required)
Valid driver’s license (required)
Preferred Certifications & Credentials
EPA 608 Certification (Type II or Universal strongly preferred)
HVAC certification or completion of a recognized trade school program
Plumbing license or documented residential plumbing experience
