Description: Benefits Questions General Statement of Duties

This position is in the Facilities Operations division of General Services. The qualified applicant will be maintaining a variety of Forsyth County buildings.

Daily tasks for this position will include but not be limited to, painting, light construction, flooring repairs, some cabinetry work and other aspects of the building maintenance trade. This position will be available to work with other trades as needed.

Distinguishing Features

A successful candidate should have the following knowledge, skills and abilities:

• Ability to do a variety of skilled maintenance work. • Considerable knowledge of the materials, tools and methods used in a building trade such as carpentry, painting or in grounds maintenance. • Working knowledge of one or more additional trades. • Ability to work from plans and specifications. • Ability to follow oral and written instructions. • Ability to oversee the work of others. • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with other employees. • Ability to prepare cost estimate for repairs. • Considerable knowledge of the hazards and applicable precautions of work. • Ability to review blueprints and schematics.

Lifting Requirements: Lifting over 100 lbs occasionally, 50-100 lbs frequently or up to 20-50 lbs constantly.

Minimum Education and Experience

Graduation from high school or GED and at least three years of experience in the building maintenance trade.

A valid drivers license.

Must have demonstrated ability to perform semi-skilled to skilled maintenance work in one or more trades or grounds maintenance work including the operation of heavy equipment.

A higher education level may be considered as a substitution for all or part of the experience requirement.

This position is subject to working in high security areas governed by the US Department of Justices "Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Security Policy" and therefore requires successfully passing a more stringent criminal background check.
