Reports To: Maintenance Manager
Palmetto Plastics Innovations is seeking a dependable and mechanically inclined Maintenance Technician to support the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of manufacturing equipment and facility systems. This role is critical to maintaining safe, efficient, and reliable production operations within our plastics manufacturing environment.
The ideal candidate will have experience working in plastics manufacturing and a strong understanding of thermoforming equipment, mechanical systems, pneumatics, hydraulics, and industrial troubleshooting. This individual must be hands-on, proactive, and capable of working independently while supporting the Maintenance Manager and production team.
Perform preventative maintenance on thermoformers, extrusion equipment, auxiliary systems, and plant machinery
Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and basic electrical issues on manufacturing equipment
Assist with machine setups, changeovers, and production support as needed
Diagnose equipment failures and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime
Maintain and repair facility systems including compressors, chillers, pumps, conveyors, and material handling systems
Read and interpret equipment manuals, schematics, and technical drawings
Support installation and commissioning of new equipment and production lines
Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, and preventative maintenance logs
Ensure all maintenance work is performed safely and in compliance with company policies and OSHA standards
Identify opportunities for equipment improvement, reliability enhancements, and cost savings
Maintain organized maintenance areas, tools, and spare parts inventory
Work collaboratively with production supervisors, operators, and engineering personnel to support operational goals
2+ years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
Experience in plastics manufacturing and thermoforming equipment strongly preferred
Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability required
Knowledge of pneumatics, hydraulics, bearings, motors, gearboxes, and industrial machinery
Basic understanding of electrical systems and controls preferred
Ability to use hand tools, power tools, welders, and diagnostic equipment
Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical documentation
Strong work ethic, reliability, and attention to detail
Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
Forklift and/or scissor lift experience is a plus
Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and climb for extended periods
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly
Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to heat, noise, dust, and moving equipment
Ability to work flexible hours and overtime when required
