Responsibilities

  • Responsible for performing groundskeeping and landscaping maintenance duties. Responsible for daily inspection of outdoor facilities, which includes trash, trip hazards, holes, and obstacles and takes appropriate steps to correct deficiencies. Provides ground maintenance by mowing, trimming, planting, watering, leaf blowing, and raking. Operates and maintains equipment including trimmers, tractors, hedgers, mowers, edgers, and sweepers. Safely handles fertilizers, insecticides and other groundskeeping chemicals.
  • Ensures equipment and working area is kept clean. Ensures equipment is in proper operating order at all times and properly stored and secured after each use. Reports maintenance and equipment needs to supervisor. Assists in opening and securing buildings as appropriate and secures field fence gates. Follows all EH&S protocols for safety and use of all equipment. Responsible for daily record keeping and logging of maintenance and safety check sheets. Safely operates and maintains all vehicles in line of duty, that includes trucks, boats, golf carts, and mules.
  • Responsible for providing labor and/or assisting skilled trades employees with routine maintenance at all outdoor Campus Recreation facilities. Assists with minor building repairs and facility upgrades as directed, which can include minor carpentry, painting and plumbing repairs. Responsible for field preparation, special event set up, facility rental set up and tear down, and ensuring facilities and buildings are in "tour ready" appearance at all times. Responsible for sanitizing and clean up of all site furnishings, buildings, and surrounding areas after rentals and events.
  • Maintains irrigation systems at Campus Recreation outdoor facilities. Ensures systems are in good working order and performs preventative maintenance and repairs, as needed. Repairs control values and control clock throughout the complex. Ensures proper operation of sprinkler heads and replaces as needed.
  • Responsible for repair and maintenance of motorized vehicles, outboard motors, and mechanical equipment. Oversees and logs the preventative maintenance of oil levels, spark plugs, batteries, and bilge pumps. Troubleshoots problems or issues that may arise. Ensures vessels are fueled for daily operation. Maintains all service records.
  • Responsible for custodial care of outdoor facility buildings. Maintains the cleanliness of offices, buildings, walkways, bathrooms and locker rooms, and park amenities. Provides custodial maintenance through dusting, sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, sanitizing tables, and removal trash and debris.
  • Performs related work at other Campus Recreation facilities. Assists with other FSU Campus Recreation special events and projects as scheduled. Assists at other Campus Recreation facilities as needed due to work loads, semester breaks, and vacancies at the discretion of the supervisor. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Completion of 9th grade.
  • Must have a valid Florida or Georgia Drivers License, or the ability to obtain prior to hire.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds and work from heights of 35 feet.

Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM, with a 30 minute lunch.
