Position Overview

US Modules is seeking a highly skilled Maintenance Supervisor to lead our night shift operations at our solar module manufacturing facility in College Station, Texas. This role is a critical leadership position responsible for overseeing a team of Maintenance Technicians to ensure maximum equipment uptime, safety, and operational excellence in a high-volume, automated production environment

Key Responsibilities

Team Leadership & Shift Operations

  1. Direct Supervision: Lead and coordinate the night shift maintenance team, ensuring all corrective and preventive tasks are completed efficiently. Shift Handover: Manage seamless communication and reporting between day and night shifts to ensure continuity of technical issues and project progress.
  2. Performance Management: Evaluate team performance, provide on-the-job training, and foster a culture of accountability and continuous skill development.
  3. Resource Allocation: Organize nightly workflows and delegate tasks to ensure 100% coverage and responsiveness to production needs.

Equipment Reliability & Automation Support

  1. PLC Diagnostics: Utilize diagnostic tools to identify faults in Omron, Keyence, or equivalent PLC-based systems; focus on sensor, I/O, and communication troubleshooting to minimize downtime.
  2. Specialized Process Troubleshooting: Oversee the repair and maintenance of critical solar manufacturing equipment across the following stages:
  3. Pre-Lamination: Maintain high-precision equipment including Tabber-Stringers, Layup systems, and automated Bussing systems.
  4. Post-Lamination: Manage maintenance for Laminators, assembling stations, glue dispensing application systems, and pick-and-place (P&P) systems.
  5. Root Cause Analysis (RCA): Investigate recurring equipment failures and collaborate with the engineering team to implement long-term technical solutions.

Safety & Specialized Compliance

  1. Energized Equipment Safety: Supervise and enforce strict safety protocols when technicians are required to perform diagnostics or troubleshooting on equipment in a "hot state" (energized systems), ensuring specialized PPE and safe work boundaries are maintained.
  2. Safety Leadership: Enforce strict adherence to LOTO (Lock-out/Tag-out), OSHA standards, and machine guarding requirements, focusing on the unique challenges of night-shift safety monitoring.
  3. CMMS & Documentation: Ensure all maintenance activities, including energized work authorizations and spare parts usage, are accurately documented in the CMMS to maintain data integrity.
  4. Risk Mitigation: Conduct routine safety audits during the night shift to identify and report potential hazards, near misses, or equipment-related risks promptly.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum 5+ years of industrial maintenance experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or team lead capacity.
  • Shift Availability: Must be able and willing to work 12-hour night shifts, including weekends and overtime as required.
  • Technical Skills: Expert-level ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and pneumatic diagrams.
  • Automation Exposure: Foundational experience in troubleshooting Omron, Keyence, or equivalent PLC systems and industrial sensors.
  • Education: High school diploma or GED required; Technical certification or Associate degree in Engineering Technology is preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Industry Experience: Previous experience in solar module, semiconductor, or high-speed automated manufacturing.
  • Advanced Systems: Familiarity with Keyence/Omron industrial vision systems or basic industrial robotics.
  • Process Knowledge: Understanding of Lean Manufacturing or TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) principles.

Work Environment

This is an on-site role in a manufacturing environment. The position requires working around automated equipment, electrical and mechanical systems. PPE is required, with flexibility to support off-shift or weekend work as needed.
