The Maintenance Supervisor plans, estimates and schedules preventative and corrective maintenance of plant equipment, machinery, and service systems to increase uptime and minimize unscheduled downtime. This position supervises maintenance, mechanical, and electrical staff and includes planning and scheduling maintenance work responsibilities.

PREREQUISITES:

Education: BSME/BSMET or equivalent preferred.

Work Experience: Minimum of three (3) years mechanical maintenance experience. Industrial maintenance and papermill experience a plus.

Skills: Possess written & verbal communication skills & engineering knowledge. Possess industrial electrical/mechanical skills. Possess leadership skills and interpersonal skills. Computer skills, Microsoft Office, etc.

Training: Any industrial safety and maintenance training.

Other: Ability to motivate & communicate well with superiors, peers and subordinates. Energetic, self- motivated, able to multi-task & respond to changing priorities.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The essential functions of this position include but are not limited to...

  1. Plan/Schedule work orders. Supervise the activities of maintenance personnel assigned to their area.

  2. Work closely with engineering to ensure capital projects are implemented with maintenance concerns addressed.

  3. Assign & direct work to meet maintenance requirements, while coordinating to meet production schedules with a minimum of downtime & cost.

  4. Check all completed work before releasing equipment to Operations Department. Ensure build/repair documentation is completed and recorded.

  5. Participate in continuous improvement of preventative maintenance / basic care and documentation.

  6. Issue direct and storeroom requisitions for repair parts & supplies necessary to perform Electrical Maintenance work.

  7. Administer company policy, enforce company rules & regulations. Maintain discipline & administer Union-Management Agreement.

  8. Participate in plant safety, fire prevention, housekeeping programs & maintain safe working conditions & practices to insure compliance with State & Federal Safety Standards.

  9. Maintain & furnish information for reports & records for production, maintenance costs, personnel. Upkeep of mill asset documentation via Trident and department shared files.

PRINCIPLE ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Establish and assign routine maintenance schedules and coordinate machine downtime.
  1. Maintain inventory of parts and supplies with a focus on cost controls.

  2. Schedule work, coordinate production activities, provide direct oversight of employees.

  3. Ensure predictive and preventive maintenance programs are accomplished and repairs are completed.

  4. Establish and maintain maintenance budgets.

  5. Recommend capital improvements including assisting the design and installation of new equipment.

  6. Ensure maintenance crew understands and is able to troubleshoot all corrugator jobs and is fully trained on mechanical and electrical repairs, equipment use, adjustments, and unique situations.

  7. Maintain a clean, safe and injury-free work environment by ensuring health and safety procedures are understood and executed by all employees.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

Associates degree or completed certification in production maintenance.

5+ years' previous experience in equipment and electrical maintenance.

Ability to work flexible hours as needed.

Must be authorized to work in the U.S.

PREFFERED QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's degree in engineering.

Previous supervisory experience in coaching, training, teambuilding, performance development, and conflict resolution strongly preferred.

Experience with manufacturing safety practices.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

Solid analytical, mechanical, and mathematical skills.

Solid working knowledge of electrical and mechanical maintenance.

Working knowledge of maintenance of corrugated and packaging equipment.

Working knowledge of manufacturing systems including shop floor software.

Ability to work in a fast paced, deadline-oriented environment, prioritize assignments, and handle multiple projects and/or requests concurrently.

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

  • Starting salary range for position: $96,000 through $144,000 annually.
  • Paid Vacation: Three (3) weeks per calendar year. Pro-rata Vacation during the initial year of hire based upon start date within the calendar year.
  • Paid Holidays.
  • Within the first 30 days of employment, an employee (and their dependents) is eligible to enroll in certain benefit coverages -- medical, dental, and vision - and are automatically enrolled in life, AD&D, and disability coverages.
  • Upon hire, an employee is automatically enrolled in the 401k plan. The plan offers both pre-tax and Roth contribution options along with employer provided matching contributions.
