Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for complex mechanical repairs, equipment rebuilds, and mentoring junior mechanics.

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 1-2 years of maintenance or mechanical experience (manufacturing or mining preferred).
  • Class A CDL with doubles/tanker endorsement, or ability to obtain.
  • MSHA knowledge, forklift experience, warehouse experience, and general computer skills preferred.

Skills:

  • Strong troubleshooting skills across electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, powertrain, brake, and electronic systems.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and work with multiple variables.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating manuals, maintenance instructions, and technical documents.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Ability to use standard mechanic tools, gauges, and diagnostic equipment.
  • Ability to read drawings, sketches, and work orders; apply basic shop math.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • High attention to detail and quality.
  • Strong time management, organization, and ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Self-motivated with ability to work independently and within a team.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on mobile, plant, and mine equipment.
  • Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair brakes, drivetrains, engines, tires, frames, and fluid systems.
  • Execute and document scheduled preventive maintenance (PMs).
  • Inspect safety components such as guards, bolts, and safety devices.
  • Sample fluids and analyze for maintenance diagnostics.
  • Fuel and lubricate equipment.
  • Order parts, oil, fuel, and supplies to maintain productivity.
  • Interpret operator-reported issues for troubleshooting.
  • Maintain clean and organized tools, parts, and work areas.
  • Perform cutting and welding using gas and electric methods.
  • Operate plant, mine, and load & haul equipment as needed.
  • Assist senior mechanics and support general maintenance activities.
  • Complete work orders, time logs, and parts usage documentation.
  • Follow all safety and environmental regulations (MSHA, DOT, and company policies).
  • Promote a strong safety culture and use Stop Work Authority when needed.
  • Perform all work with a high level of safety and responsibility.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Ability to climb stairs, ladders, and work on elevated platforms.
  • Ability to use hand tools (shovels, hammers, wrenches, etc.).
  • Ability to multitask in physically demanding, fast-paced environments.
  • Support on-call and overtime work as required.
