The Maintenance Mechanic Lead B plays a critical role in ensuring the operational efficiency and safety of construction equipment and facilities across project sites in the United States. This position involves leading a team of maintenance mechanics to perform preventive maintenance, troubleshoot mechanical issues, and execute timely repairs on a variety of heavy machinery and building systems. The lead mechanic is responsible for coordinating maintenance schedules, managing resources, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards. This role requires a proactive approach to identifying potential equipment failures and implementing solutions to minimize downtime and support continuous construction operations. Ultimately, the Maintenance Mechanic Lead B ensures that all mechanical systems function reliably to support project timelines and organizational goals.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in maintenance mechanics, preferably within the construction industry.
  • Proven experience leading or supervising a maintenance team.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical components related to construction equipment.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel to various job sites within the United States.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Technical certification or vocational training in mechanical maintenance or related fields.
  • Experience with computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
  • OSHA certification or equivalent safety training.
  • Experience working with heavy construction equipment such as excavators, loaders, and cranes.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and supervise a team of maintenance mechanics in performing routine and emergency maintenance tasks on construction equipment and facility systems.
  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs to reduce equipment breakdowns and extend machinery lifespan.
  • Diagnose mechanical failures using technical manuals, diagnostic tools, and hands-on inspection, then perform necessary repairs or coordinate with external vendors as needed.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, parts inventory, and equipment service history to ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with project managers and safety personnel to ensure all maintenance work adheres to safety protocols and supports project schedules.
