Maintenance Mechanic - La Tiara - Kansas City, Missouri
As a part of our manufacturing group, you will be responsible for mechanical and some electrical preventative and reactive maintenance of processing and packaging equipment and providing technical support to improve and optimize within the manufacturing operations and processes.
- Shift hours: 8-hour shift
- 1st shift: 6:45 am to 3:15 pm
- 2nd shift: 2:45 pm to 11:15 pm
- 3rd shift: 10:45 pm to 7:15 am
- Currently hiring for 2nd and/or 3rd shift dependent upon business need
- Ability and willingness to work overtime, any shift, including days, nights, weekends, holidays and emergency events
Pay and Benefits
- Pay: $28.00 per hour up to $32.00 per hour depending upon skillset and experience
- Up to $32.00 per hour (Internal Advancement Pay for Skill opportunities)
- Shift Differential: Additional $1.00 per hour for 2nd and 3rd shift

Understanding and following all company safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment
Installing, maintaining, repairing, and replacing industrial processing and packaging machinery, work tools and equipment
Identifying/diagnosing and troubleshooting mechanical issues
Management of work orders, parts requisition, and data entry through understanding and use of Maintenance Management System
Providing technical support and plant leadership for equipment troubleshooting and equipment modification
Understanding, initiating, and participating in Root Cause Analysis (Why, Why)
Performing both uptime and down time preventative maintenance
Effectively communicate and productively interact with all levels of team personnel and outside contractors, vendors, visitors, etc.
Participate in Continuous Improvement initiatives to increase platform performance
Assist in training new employees
What You Have to Offer
- Minimum of a high school diploma or GED
- Must possess the ability to understand and effectively communicate with co-workers, supervisors, and others in the workplace regarding work matters (our business is generally conducted in English)
- 2+ years (minimum) in industrial maintenance or related industry experience and/or equivalent education in a related field/industry
- Must have a solid understanding of mechanical and pneumatic systems, basic electrical troubleshooting skills, ability to diagnose problems, repair or replace components, preventative maintenance and attention to detail
- Experience with various tools and technologies, including hand tools, power tools, basic electrical skills including: using a multimeter; checking voltage, testing motors, safely opening panels, resetting brakers, identifying faults and use of a CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System)
- Ability to work independently and as a team with flexibility to quickly shift work priorities
- Basic shop equipment (mill, lathe, grinder, presses, etc) preferred
- Experience in a manufacturing/production environment preferred
- Physical requirements:
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
- Must be able to perform physical tasks for extended periods of time including standing, walking, climbing, bending, pushing, pulling and twisting over surfaces
- Ability to climb and/or work at heights while utilizing stairs, ladders, personnel lifts, or platforms
- Ability to wear protective clothing and equipment such as safety shoes, face masks, safety glasses, hearing protection, a hard hat, a hair/beard net and gloves when required
- Willing and able to adhere to all grooming requirements necessary for a food manufacturing environment
- Ability to work in hot, cold, noisy, dusty, wet environmental working conditions
- Willing to work around industrial high-speed moving machinery
- Ability to work with allergens that might be present in a food environment
