Job Title: Maintenance Mechanic I

Location: MD

Reports To: Maintenance Manager

Job Overview:

Maintenance Mechanic I is responsible for routine repairs of packaging, processing, mobile equipment, and physical structures.

Responsibilities:

  • Installs, maintains, and repairs plant machinery, equipment, and physical structures.

  • Diagnoses failures in machinery or equipment and makes necessary repairs.

  • Visually inspects and tests machinery and equipment using electrical and electronic test equipment.

  • Performs and documents preventative maintenance.

  • Follows specifications, blueprints, manuals, and schematic drawings and lockout/tag out procedures to make repairs.

  • Performs repairs by skillfully using hand tools, power tools, hoist, crane, and measuring and testing instruments.

  • Performs plumbing and pipe fitting and related work in installing, repairing, or routing water, sewage, air, and gas pipes.

  • Documents repair procedures and parts used from inventory and maintain accurate inventory of tools and equipment.

  • Performs welding, acetylene brazing, cutting torch, routine layout and other duties as needed.

  • Keeps areas clean and free of clutter.

  • Observes all safety rules and regulations. Inspects safety of shop area, tools, and plant area.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • HS Diploma or equivalent.

  • Minimum two (2) years technical degree in a related field or electrical/mechanical experience preferred.

  • Must effectively use CMMS.

Skills & Abilities:

  • Participates in Process improvement activities.

  • Operate Load-All

  • Operate Forklift

  • Operate packaging equipment to enhance understanding and ability to support operation.

  • Interacts with CMMC and CMS through computer terminal

  • Must meet the assessment requirements for this position.

  • Must be able to read, comprehend, and act on SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures, AIQ processes, and similar documents.

  • Must have a working knowledge of pneumatics and hydraulics.

  • Must be able to work independently with limited supervision.

  • Must be able to perform basic machining tasks such as boring sprockets using a milling machine.

  • Must have basic programmable logic controller's skills.

  • Must be able to read and understand shop manuals, parts, diagrams, schematic drawings, and blueprints.

  • Must have knowledge and ability to read and understand electrical schematics, blueprints, ladder logic, etc.

  • Must demonstrate the ability to perform the following maintenance skills:

  • Electrical tasks such as changing motors

  • Sufficient math skills to calculate installation and adjustment of machinery

  • Ability to operate heavy equipment

  • Must be a qualified welder

  • Demonstrated ability to perform detail-oriented work.

  • Good oral and written communication skills.

Pay Rate: $29.60 per hour
