Position Overview
Primary responsibility is to maintain repair and overhaul all types of equipment and powered industrial trucks, gas, electric, or propane, including but not limited to forklifts, turrets, order pickers, reach trucks, electric jacks, battery changer, scissor lift, boom lift, and other warehouse machinery.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Perform related duties as assigned by maintenance manager and facility director.
Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures.
Ability to learn, read, and understand operating manuals, blueprints, and drawing.
Diagnose and identify malfunctions.
Repair forklifts, turrets, order pickers, reach trucks, electric jacks, golf carts, and other warehouse vehicles.
Perform scheduled maintenance on equipment.
Test drive repaired equipment before turning over to operators.
Types records of vehicle maintenance and parts usage into a database.
Gets quotes and orders repair parts from outside vendors.
Uses trades type tools or hand tools.
Inspects and tests equipment at prescribed intervals of time or usage or because of breakdown or malfunction.
Maintains electrical systems and controls.
Disassembles, inspects, and replaces worn or broken parts. Grinds and fits parts as required to maintain or overhaul motors, transmissions, clutches, rear ends, steering devices, brakes, and wheels lifts, hoists, and hydraulic systems.
Changes batteries or propane tanks as determined by vehicle design.
Charges batteries and maintains battery fluid at prescribed level.
Cleans battery connectors.
Notifies supervisor of potentially dangerous equipment noted and corrective action taken.
Repaint vehicles
Organized and self-directed
Maintain a clean and safe work area
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements
Must be a Certified Forklift Mechanic
2 - 5 years experience
High School Diploma required
Associate degree preferred
Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and organized with ability to shift priorities in a changing environment
Mechanical ability to repair equipment and adapt to various types of machines
Strong communication skills, written and oral
Ability to work independently and self-motivated
Computer proficient in MS Word, Excel, and Gmail
Bilingual a plus, not required
Physical Requirements
Frequently involves heavy lifting, pulling up to 60 lbs
Works in awkward positions or lying on back on auto mechanics creeper" working beneath the truck
