The Maintenance Manager is responsible for the safe, efficient and uninterrupted operation of a modern food processing facility, equipped with complex electrical and mechanical systems including boilers, ammonia compressors, air compressors and hydraulic systems. The Maintenance Manager will oversee the overall operation and maintenance of processing equipment, repair, troubleshooting and upgrading systems, tools, building and grounds. This position requires adherence to maintenance best practices, including continuous improvement and total productive maintenance (TPM). While providing direction to the maintenance team ensuring compliance with various regulations for food manufacturing such as USDA, FDA, OHSA, EPA, DEQ etc. This position will manager all maintenance costs for the plant and department budget.
Responsibilities:
Maintain a strong safety culture and support resolution of plant safety issues
Supervise and develop the maintenance team by providing training, clear expectations, and coaching
Partner with HR on hiring, onboarding, performance management, and employee relations
Oversee daily maintenance operations; prioritize repairs and improvements; provide 24/7 on‑call support
Set project timelines, assign work, and schedule resources to meet facility needs
Establish and track maintenance KPIs; report performance to Senior Management
Collaborate with Engineering and R&D on process changes, capacity projects, and procedure updates
Manage plant projects, including contractor selection, scheduling, pricing, and ensuring safety compliance
Monitor ammonia system operation and provide ammonia safety, rescue, and HazWoper training
Define and execute preventive maintenance cycles; oversee electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic work
Ensure accurate maintenance documentation, including work orders, schedules, and reports
Manage departmental budget, assets, parts inventory, purchase orders, and invoices
Set min/max inventory levels and reduce parts usage through PM improvements and root‑cause analysis
Support capital expenditure planning and manage asset inventory
Monitor water usage and wastewater compliance, including BOD and TTS
Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Qualifications
Bilingual (English/Spanish)
Associate’s degree (A.A.) from a two-year college or technical school, or an equivalent combination of education and manufacturing experience
Experience working with ammonia refrigeration systems and related safety protocols (RETA or similar certification preferred if applicable)
Strong Lean background, including Kaizen, 5M5Y, STPD, and TPM, with demonstrated experience leading continuous improvement events
Five (5)+ years of related experience in a high-paced manufacturing environment
Experience with 3‑phase power systems, PLC controls, general troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance programs
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, parts manuals, and machine drawings, and proficiency with computer programs such as Visio
Ability to interpret technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and work with abstract and concrete variables
Strong mathematical competency, including probability, statistics, geometry, trigonometry, and application of fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents
Ability to respond effectively to inquiries from customers, regulatory agencies, and business partners
Ability to present information to senior leadership, public groups, and boards of directors
Demonstrated ability to select, lead, coach, motivate, develop, engage, and retain a team
Strong problem‑solving skills, including data collection, fact‑finding, and drawing valid conclusions
Self‑motivated, results‑oriented, with strong initiative and the ability to work well under pressure

Benefits and Compensation Package
Salary Range: $140,000 – $160,000 + 20% STI bonus
