This is a predominantly office-based role, with regular site visits and travel across the county. If Selby isn't the ideal location for you, we can offer flexibility to be based from one of our depots across North Yorkshire.

Are you an experienced highways professional looking to take the next step in your career? Do you want to play a key role in maintaining and improving North Yorkshire's highway network while leading a high-performing team?

We're looking for a Maintenance Manager to join our Highways Operations team and help deliver vital services that keep North Yorkshire moving.

 

About the role

This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing service and make a real difference to local communities.

As Maintenance Manager, you'll:

  • Lead and manage a team of up to 15 Highway Officers
  • Oversee day-to-day highway maintenance and inspections
  • Ensure works are delivered safely, efficiently, and to agreed standards and service levels
  • Manage budgets and performance, identifying efficiencies and improvements
  • Respond to emergencies and support winter maintenance operations
  • Work closely with partners, contractors, and the public

You'll be mainly office-based, with regular site visits and travel across the county.

About you

We're looking for someone who brings:

  • Strong highways and maintenance experience
  • Proven experience leading and motivating a team
  • The ability to manage budgets, prioritise workloads, and deliver results
  • Confidence working across multiple systems and interpreting data
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work with a wide range of stakeholders
  • A calm, professional approach, especially when dealing with challenging situations

A relevant qualification (HNC/HND or similar) is desirable, but we will consider equivalent experience.
