The Maintenance Manager is responsible for all aspects of building and grounds maintenance including but not limited to; performing preventive and repair maintenance on all equipment, facility and grounds. In the event a repair arises outside the scope of the Maintenance Manager’s knowledge or ability, The Maintenance Manager is responsible for scheduling the proper repair in the timeliest manner. Ability to maintain, repair, and replace all types of production equipment, which includes mechanical, servo mechanical, electric, pneumatic and electronic control systems. Oversees the accuracy of maintaining inventory of spare parts and purchases the spare parts as directed by the Engineering Director. Capable of minor engineering execution/designs as requested by the Engineering Director.
• Responsible for all aspects of training and leading maintenance staff to include disciplinary measures as well as vacation and time off scheduling;
• Maintain all processing equipment;
• Trouble-shoot as required;
• Maintain OSHA Ammonia data sheets via engine room readings; and maintains records/repair reports/ preventive maintenance schedules/building/grounds as directed by SQF/SSOP/GMP Standards;
• Dispatch maintenance department team members to production equipment problems in the most efficient manner possible;
• Recommend ways to cut downtime and make the production department equipment as efficient as possible;
• Maintain parts inventory in the most efficient manner possible and any other task deemed safe and reasonable by the Company;
• Works as a team with Production Management, Warehouse Management, and R&D / Quality Management;
• Plans, schedules, assigns or (in some cases) performs the work of attending to all preventive and repair maintenance of the facility and grounds;
• Oversees all outside contractor/repair personnel working inside or outside the facility to assure all SQF/SSOP/GMP guidelines are followed and equipment is repaired in a safe and timely manner;
• Responsible for notifying outside repair/service/contractor personnel for estimate needs and coordinates materials, labor, and equipment for repairs/updates;
• Leads safety meetings with maintenance staff;
• Works a flexible schedule to allow for optimal use of maintenance time including evenings and weekends as needed. Work may be done outside normal business hours during declared emergency situations;
• Must be able to demonstrate operational use of hand and power tools, vehicles and equipment commonly used for maintenance and repair tasks;
• Must assign (and in some cases perform) general building maintenance duties, including basic plumbing, carpentry, and electrical tasks as needed for the facility and grounds;
• May need a working knowledge of plumbing/electrical codes;
• Demonstrated oral and written communication skills, as well as appropriate time management skills;
• A working knowledge of Outlook/Excel and Word;
• Good problem-solving skills.
Required Skills
• Ability to understand and effectively communicate in English;
• Basic math skills;
• Ability to read and troubleshoot electrical/pneumatic drawings;
• Stick welding, TIG and MIG welding skills is a plus;
• Ability to work a flexible work schedule to include nights and weekends.
• High school education or equivalent.
• Ability to effectively take the lead within a group.
• A self-starter that is detail oriented and works well within a team.
• Effective communication skills.
