Job Title: Maintenance Manager

Job Summary:
The Maintenance Manager provides leadership and technical direction to support all departments at a chemical manufacturing facility. This role oversees maintenance operations to ensure optimal equipment performance, safety, and regulatory compliance. Responsibilities include managing a team of skilled technicians, developing preventive and predictive maintenance programs, and coordinating efforts with production and engineering teams. The Maintenance Manager is accountable for minimizing downtime, controlling maintenance costs, and upholding environmental and safety standards. Success in this position requires strong leadership, hands-on expertise with chemical processing equipment, and proficiency in CMMS and reliability-centered maintenance practices. This role supervises team of 6.
Key Responsibilities:
Preventive & Predictive Maintenance – 40%
- Develop and manage preventive maintenance programs using data-driven and reliability-centered practices.
- Utilize tools like vibration analysis, thermography, and oil analysis for predictive maintenance.
- Align maintenance schedules with production needs to reduce operational disruptions.
- Track key performance indicators (KPIs) such as MTBF, work order completion, and maintenance costs.
- Prepare and manage maintenance budgets, identifying cost savings and efficiency improvements.
Regulatory Compliance & Safety – 25%
- Ensure maintenance activities comply with OSHA, EPA, and other applicable regulations.
- Lead root cause investigations for incidents and integrate findings into training programs.
- Support site-wide safety initiatives through toolbox talks, audits, and coaching.
Team Management & Development – 25%
- Supervise and direct the daily work of electricians, mechanics, instrumentation techs, and planners.
- Promote cross-training to improve team flexibility and responsiveness.
- Foster a high-performance culture through coaching, performance reviews, and development planning.
Cross-Functional Collaboration – 10%
- Coordinate with production and engineering to schedule maintenance and support project timelines.
- Provide input on capital projects, equipment selection, and lifecycle considerations.
- Oversee external contractors and vendors, ensuring safety and quality standards are met.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Expertise in chemical processing, mechanical/electrical systems, and regulatory standards (OSHA, EPA).
- Proficient in preventive and predictive maintenance, CMMS usage, and KPI management.
- Strong leadership skills with a focus on team development, project coordination, and safety.
- Analytical problem-solving skills and experience driving improvements through data and collaboration.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive maintenance experience in industrial or chemical manufacturing.
- At least 3–5 years in a supervisory or management capacity.
- Experienced in process safety management preferred.
