Temporary position working several months during the day shift: 3 or 4 12-hour shifts each week, including every other weekend (Friday, Saturday and Sunday); 5 am - 5 pm
Position Summary: The primary responsibilities of the Maintenance Industrial Technician is to maintain, troubleshoot and repair industrial machinery to ensure optimal performance and safety. Employees in this position perform their tasks with a focus on safety, quality and productivity to effectively meet the Westby Cooperative Creamery goals.
Responsibilities:
1. Performing preventive maintenance such as cleaning, lubrication, and inspection of machinery to prevent breakdowns and extend equipment life.
2. Diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic faults in industrial machinery.
3. Installing new machinery and equipment, ensuring proper alignment, calibration, and integration with existing systems.
4. Reading and interpreting blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals to understand machinery operation and repair requirements.
5. Maintaining maintenance logs and reports, documenting repairs, inspections, and parts replacements.
6. Assisting with inventory control, ordering spare parts, and managing supplies.
7. Training production personnel on proper operation and basic preventive maintenance of equipment.
8. Ensuring compliance with safety regulations and maintaining a clean, organized work environment.
9. Reports and/or corrects unsafe conditions or needed building/equipment repair to Maintenance Supervisor.
10. Perform other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
1. Associate degree in Industrial Maintenance and two or more years of work-related experience or a combination of education and experience is preferred.
2. Familiarity with safety standards is required, and completion of OSHA 10 course preferred.
3. Technical knowledge of industrial machinery, including mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
4. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills to quickly identify and fix equipment malfunctions.
5. Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and electrical schematics.
6. Experience with installation, repair, and preventive maintenance of industrial equipment.
7. Basic computer skills for reporting and maintenance tracking.
8. Attention to detail, basic math skills, and having the ability to read, understand, and follow SOP’s and GMP’s is required.
9. Ability to work independently; manages one’s own time, monitors individual performance, identifies problems and problems solves, using judgment in making decisions.
10. Ability to communicate effectively with internal customers and work in a team or independently with a positive attitude is required.
11. Dependability, flexibility, energy, and efficiency are required.
Physical Requirements:
1. Ability to meet the physical demands of the position per work screen protocol is required.
