Nature of Work

Under the direct supervision of the Director of Maintenance, this position is responsible for performing the upkeep and maintenance of outdoor stadiums and working closely with athletic directors, coaches, maintenance staff, and administrators to ensure athletic facilities remain safe, attractive, and ready for student use year-round.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Mowing, edging, and maintaining athletic fields.
• Monitoring field conditions and addressing drainage issues.
• Lining and marking fields for games, practices, and special events.
• Preparing playing surfaces to meet safety and competition standards.
• Maintaining surrounding grounds, landscaping, and common areas.
• Removing debris, litter, leaves, and other hazards from athletic facilities.
• Performing routine maintenance and minor repairs on groundskeeping equipment.
• Monitoring equipment inventories and reporting repair needs.
• Conducting regular inspections of fields and facilities for safety hazards.
• Ensuring playing surfaces meet school, district, and athletic association standards.
• Maintaining compliance with environmental and chemical application regulations.
• Responding to weather-related issues and preparing fields after storms.
• Supporting athletic staff during tournaments, community events, and school functions.
• Assists with general maintenance duties when not performing groundskeeping duties.
• Willing to be on call in case of emergencies.
• Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Working knowledge of techniques, methods, tools, and safety precautions with groundskeeping.
• Ability to push, pull, stoop, kneel, reach, grasp, talk, hear, climb, and crawl.
• Ability to work in extreme temperatures, tolerate dust, chemicals, other substances and environmental conditions associated with maintenance work.
• Previous experience working in athletics/field maintenance is preferred.

Salary

Local salary schedule based on experience with benefits.
