Primary Purpose:
The maintenance worker performs routine facility upkeep, conducts preventive system checks, and completes minor repairs. The role supports school operations by responding to building emergencies and setting up for campus events. Performs lawn maintenance to keep the campus clean and safe. Follow routine maintenance and cleaning procedures to maintain a high standard of safety, cleanliness, and efficiency of building operations and grounds.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
High School Preferred or a General Education Development (GED) equivalent.
Valid driver's license to navigate to purchase supplies needed.
Successful completion of a comprehensive state criminal background check and fingerprinting.

PHYSICAL EFFORT AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
Flexibility in job duty hours if a maintenance item requires immediate attention. Assist Cafeteria staff with lifting and moving when food orders are delivered. Maintenance Work is conducted inside and outside. Incumbent will travel around the district to work where needed. Most of the working day is spent standing or walking on hard surfaces; peak hours are very fast-paced. Heavy lifting may be required. Institutional cleaning supplies are used. This position may involve rare exposure to blood or body fluids. Regular attendance is required for this position.
PERSONAL WORK RELATIONSHIPS
This position reports directly to the Principal(s) and will receive direction from the Superintendent. The incumbent will have regular contact with other Area Supervisors, students, and other personnel.
Supervisory Responsibilities:

Equipment Used:
Wet and dry vacuum cleaner, electric drill, hand tools, shampooer, lawnmower, edger, weed eater, leaf blower.

Frequent walking, standing, climbing, and heavy lifting and carrying. Work outside and inside, on slippery or uneven walking surfaces, and on ladders. Exposure to hot and cold temperatures, dust, toxic chemicals, and materials.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Hand and finger dexterity:
Ability to handle a variety of maintenance tools.
Eye-hand coordination:
Ability to utilize a variety of maintenance tools.
Lifting:
Ability to lift a minimum of 25 pounds.
Standing/Walking:
Ability to stand for long periods on hard surfaces (concrete or tile) for at least 80% of the scheduled workday.
Talking and Hearing:
Ability to interact with customers, employees, management, school staff, and administrators and communicate about workplace safety.
Feeling:
Ability to handle a variety of maintenance tools.
Seeing:
Ability to inspect school grounds, complete paperwork and maintain a safe workplace.
Lifting:
Seek help or utilize a cart for any items greater than 25 pounds.
Body Movements:
Ability to bend, stoop, squat, reach, push, and/or pull.
Repetitive Hand Movements:
Ability to use both right and left hands.
Repetitive Feet Movements:
Ability to walk and move about.
