About the Position
This position is with the Mississippi Department of Transportation and is located in Panola County. The official MSPB classification title is Maintenance/Grounds Manager. The incumbent will manage facilities and grounds maintenance operations for an assigned maintenance shop, facility, or multiple locations. Duties include planning, coordinating, estimating, and scheduling maintenance, alteration, renovation, repair, and upgrade projects involving in-house and contracted skilled or semi-skilled trades work. The incumbent will estimate project costs, determine project scope, coordinate materials and staffing needs, manage inventory, prepare status reports, and support the day-to-day implementation of facilities and grounds maintenance activities. The position is also responsible for developing or applying operational policies and procedures, preventive maintenance schedules, and plans for future facility systems and structural maintenance needs. This position includes supervisory responsibilities such as recommending selection and hire, training employees, assigning and reviewing work, assessing performance, coaching employees, and addressing progressive discipline matters as needed.

Characteristics of Work
This is managerial facilities and grounds maintenance work involving responsibility for coordinating, supervising, and managing maintenance, repair, alteration, renovation, and operational support activities for an assigned facility, maintenance shop, or multiple locations.
The incumbent plans and coordinates work activities, estimates time and material needs, monitors maintenance operations, manages inventory and resources, coordinates with internal staff and outside contractors, and ensures assigned facilities and grounds maintenance functions are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with applicable requirements.
