The Maintenance Manager is responsible for the repair of electrical & electronic CNC equipment programming interfaces, portable air and electric production tools, hydraulic equipment, welding equipment & controls, Kinetic burning and drilling machines, and facility building and yard maintenance requiring a high level of technical skill and interface between team members in all areas of the shop while promoting and ensuring a safe working environment.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities

Strong knowledge and experience on electronic controls and PLC programming.

Certified Lincoln Electric controller repair.

Strong background in CNC programming for various machining centers and burn tables.

Assure safe equipment handling and repair techniques are utilized at all times by all personnel

Advise floor supervisors of equipment repair status(s)

Work with crews to accomplish production goals, and quality needs and requirements

Coordinate planning and execution with supervisors to schedule needed equipment & repairs

Be an active member of the pre-planning maintenance group

Teach and mentor maintenance crew

Ensure quality work is being performed - nothing is done or moves to the next step unless 100% good or future plan

Ensure all documentation is filled out and accurate, work orders / log book

When issues occur - stop and alert supervisor(s), discuss a solution\

Actively identify ways of improving performance

Maintain a safe working area and clean up after task is done

Work relationships and Scope

Reports directly to shift supervisor and works closely with other employees on a daily basis

Measures of Performance

Outstanding safety record: no Serious Accidents involving injury and lost time

On-time delivery of scheduled equipment needs

Equipment fixed properly the first time and not simply quick fix. Quality of work.

Outstanding attendance record

Decrease down time in area of responsibility due to innovations, streamlining of tasks, process improvements, effective management and lean manufacturing implementation

Positive feedback from co-workers and supervisors on performance and competencies

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Identify problems of all equipment, find a safe solution in a timely manner, know where to go for needed resources, process paper work, maintain inventory using the implemented process(s)

Prioritize, schedule and furnish projects to maintenance crew

Effectively communicate with crews, supervisors, and office personnel

Anticipate needs of equipment and inform supervisors of status(s)

Coordinate work with all shops and yard crews

Use personnel skills to enable crews to work effectively (communication, handle issues, prevent personnel problems)

Use cost effective processes and solutions

Working Conditions

A Maintenance Technician working at Veritas Steel perform indoors in a large warehouse environment. There is regular exposure to dirt, dust, paint fumes, noise, moving equipment, heavy steel, and other possible hazardous conditions.

Earplugs, hardhats, respirator, safety glasses and steel-toed boots with metatarsal guards are required.

Equipment Operated

Kinetic burn and drilling machining centers, CNC Centers, Beam Lines, Angle Masters, Lincoln Electric Controllers

STRONGLY PREFERRED: well versed in PLC, Frequency drive and CNC troubleshooting and repair is what WE NEED and experience in diesel repair would be a bonus!
