Responsibilities/Job Description:

Job Overview: 

Fairview is looking for a Maintenance Engineer to join our team at our St. John's Hospital location in Maplewood, MN.  The Maintenance Engineer maintains and repairs hospital equipment, including utility systems, HVAC systems and medical gas systems.

 

Position Details:

  • 1.0 FTE (80 hours per pay period)
  • day shift
  • as needed weekends

Job Responsibilities:

  • Maintains knowledge of, and complies with, all relevant laws, regulations, policies, procedures and standards.
  • Actively participates in creating and implementing improvements.
  • Repairs hospital equipment not covered under a service contract and assists in cleaning boilers to ensure safe and efficient operation of equipment.
  • Maintains and operates HVAC equipment to ensure personal comfort for staff, patients and visitors.
  • Maintains records on equipment repairs, safety inspections, and preventive maintenance. Communicates supply shortages to others as needed.
  • Relieves or assists the Operating Engineering Classification staff. Performs duties according to established policies and procedures for lower engineering classification job description.
  • Demonstrates safe practice in the use of equipment and makes recommendations and improvement of safety. Wears safety equipment as appropriate.
  • Follows equipment repairs and maintenance are done in accordance with Buildings and Grounds department procedures and time frames, State, Federal and OSHA regulations and NFPA.

Required Qualifications

  • High School graduate or equivalent
  • 4 years experience in building operations and maintenance
  • Working knowledge of building maintenance, utility systems and HVAC systems
  • Building Engineering: Knowledge and ability to repair Medical Office Buildings and Clinic equipment, including utility systems, HVAC systems
  • Computer Skills: Basic ability to use a computer and applications that are associated with performing basic work tasks (navigate in Windows, Outlook, epic EHR, etc.)
  • Professional Practice: Demonstrates behavior consistent with the standards, scope of practice, ethics, and characteristics of a licensed professional
  • Class 1-B Boiler MN Department of Labor and Industry

Preferred Qualifications

  • Safety Testing and Practices: Knowledge and application of safety practices, fire and disaster policies and procedures; safety testing, performance verification, and operations procedures for various types of equipment
  • License 1A Class Boiler (C-1A) through the MN Department of Labor & Industry
  • License Chief A Class Boiler (CA) through the MN Department of Labor & Industry
  • License Chief B Class Boiler (CB) through the MN Department of Labor & Industry

 

Qualifications:

$39.91- $39.91 Hourly
