Role Overview

Open Plan Systems is seeking a disciplined and versatile Maintenance Assistant to join our facility operations team. This role is designed for a proactive professional who possesses a broad mechanical aptitude and a foundational understanding of metalwork.

Rather than seeking a specialist, we are looking for a "multipotentialite", someone who enjoys the variety of general maintenance and is eager to refine their welding skills under the guidance of our specific production standards. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who values operational efficiency and maintains a high standard of safety and professional conduct.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform general facility maintenance including electrical, plumbing, and mechanical repairs.
• Conduct routine inspections of machinery and equipment to ensure safety and efficiency.
• Utilize basic welding techniques to assist in product repairs or facility upgrades.
• Operate the company van for parts pickup, equipment transport, and off-site tasks.
• Identify maintenance needs proactively and manage daily task lists with minimal supervision.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in compliance with OSHA standards.

Qualifications

• Rounded Maintenance Experience: Proven track record in general repairs. You should be comfortable swapping out a fixture, troubleshooting a motor, or patching a wall.
• Basic Welding Ability: Have a fundamental understanding of welding techniques (torch and bead). We value a coachable mindset and a willingness to adapt your skills to our specific product needs and safety standards.
• Self-Motivated Mindset: You don't wait for a list. You have the "see it, fix it" mentality and take pride in the upkeep of the facility.
• Clean Driver's License: A valid driver's license and a clean driving record are mandatory. You will be required to operate company vehicles.
• Physical Stamina: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, climb ladders, and work in various industrial environments.
