SYSTEMTEC is seeking a Mainframe Developer for a hybrid opportunity for candidates in Columbia, SC. The Candidate will support the development, maintenance, and enhancement of enterprise mainframe applications that are essential to daily business operations. This role offers the opportunity to work on large-scale systems, contribute to modernization initiatives, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver reliable and high-performing technology solutions.

Required Qualifications of the Mainframe Developer:

  • Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S. We are unable to provide sponsorship or work with Third-Party agencies.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a related field; equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in application development, systems testing, application support, or related information technology functions.
  • Experience developing, maintaining, and supporting enterprise mainframe applications.
  • Hands-on experience with one or more of the following technologies: COBOL, JCL, DB2, and IMS.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience performing coding, testing, debugging, and implementation activities throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Ability to analyze business requirements and translate them into effective technical solutions.
  • Experience supporting production systems and resolving application issues in a timely manner.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively across technical and business teams.

Preferred Skills/Experience of the Mainframe Developer:

  • Experience supporting large-scale enterprise applications.
  • Exposure to application modernization or legacy system enhancement initiatives.
  • Knowledge of system integration processes and data processing environments.
  • Experience participating in code reviews and quality assurance activities.
  • Familiarity with enterprise software development methodologies and best practices.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining a high level of quality and accuracy.

Responsibilities of the Mainframe Developer:

  • Develop, maintain, test, and enhance enterprise mainframe applications and supporting components.
  • Analyze business and technical requirements and implement effective software solutions using mainframe technologies.
  • Perform coding, debugging, testing, deployment, and application support activities.
  • Troubleshoot production issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions to maintain system stability.
  • Collaborate with business partners, analysts, developers, and project teams to deliver application enhancements and modernization initiatives.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation while ensuring applications meet established performance, reliability, and security standards.

Work Location: Hybrid work arrangement requiring onsite presence Tuesday through Thursday in Columbia, SC, with additional onsite attendance as needed based on business requirements.
